Amazing! I honestly wouldn't eat anywhere else in Manchester on our future visits!! .. such amazing food and great service. Made to feel very welcome. Such a homely feeling, not like you get in usual city centre restaurants!

I wasn’t going to write a review, but since I got an e-mail asking for one. . . Starters was lovely - insalata caprese. Restaurant was very busy and my pizza had clearly been sat out for a good while before being served to me. I told the waitress who said she’d sort it - then walked off. After a few minutes called her back she took my pizza. ‘Nice man’ (manager I think) said it’d be 3 minutes. A few minutes later got the same dog eared pizza back only this time it was burned as had been grilled. Waitress slapped it on table and walked off. No pleasantries. I then had to wait to call someone over for Parmesan I wanted. Sat with my arm up to get some attention. Again though I will say it was very busy. My friends (all 5 of them) enjoyed their meals it must be said. However I was looking forward to eating out and my food just wasn’t nice sadly. I wouldn’t go back - although ‘nice man’ did apologise and after I’d finished burned gross pizza and remove it from the bill - I just wished I’d got one from the Co-op before I left home.

Food is always good here! Staff ate grey and friendly :) I love the decor and ambience too. Baby & dog friendly too which is a bonus for us ✨

Four of us had a meal at Gio recently. Despite a generous amount of prawns for the starter, someone forgot to dry the lettuce, leaving lots of water floating on the plate. We had to ask for tap water three times, before it finally arrived sometime during the main course. Two lots of pretty anaemic chips, and hard broccoli, lasagne was fine, but pizza bit less than average. Cheesecake bit sickly, panna cotta, not good? Although staff were friendly, seemed rushed, trying to cram in as many as possible in short space of time. Not particularly good value for food quality and service, wont be rushing back.

Second visit to Cafe Italia with hubby. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and most important excellent food. Extensive menu and definitely worth a visit.

Our first visit and certainly not our last! We arrived a little early for our 5 pm booking but were quickly accommodated, our coats were taken away to dry (it was chucking it down with rain) and seated at a very pleasant table. We were given the pre-theatre menu which initially seemed rather limited, but were offered the a la carte menu on request, but in the end chose all our dishes from the pre-theatre menu and felt happy with our choices and the value for money. Service throughout the meal was excellent and the food exceeded all our expectations in terms of quality and portion size.

My mum loves this restaurant, so whenever we have a theatre trip we book for lunch. Excellent service - we are always made to feel special despite not being regulars. Food is lovely and the special set menu is perfect for a pre-theatre lunch.

We booked in at Gio's in advance of an event on at The Bridgewater Hall on a Friday evening. It was a little early for dinner for us being 6pm, but as we were going to The Bridgewater with friends, we decided to eat in advance rather than eat afterwards. The restaurant was extremely busy and my wife and I were about 25 mins early, but they still seated us immediately even knowing how early we were. The staff were very attentive to us and other customers and I felt that they were in control of service in spite of how busy they were. Our friends arrived and we ordered from the pre-Theatre set menu. It wasn't a huge choice in terms of selection, but enough of a variety of pizza's, pasta and either a steak or a fish main course to cater for most people. I think the reason is they expect so many covers in a short period of time they need to adapt the menu and it's size accordingly. We all had starters and a main course and a glass of wine/beer but no desserts or coffee as we were clock watching. The food was very pleasant, nothing you could really get wrong if you were an Italian restaurant, as we only had pizzas and pasta. One of the staff had a really good sense of humour and again regardless of how busy they were, it was nice he could engage with a touch of humour as well with us. I settled the bill and I was happy to pay the optional gratuity which was included on the bill as I was very happy with the service and quality of food. I would point out though, when asked to follow the instructions on the credit card pad, there was an option to add a gratuity which I obviously ignored. I don't believe this was a conscious 'ploy' from this restaurant, but no doubt somebody who may have had several drinks or someone less observant and not realise the gratuity is already on the main bill may overlook this and double tip. I would go back again.

Always my go to restaurant if I’m visiting the Bridgewater. The pre-show menu is limited but covers pasta, pizza, chicken fish and steak. Always well cooked and tasty. The starters are good. Portion sizes are fine. Excellent service and great value for money. Probably best to book as it gets quite busy if there’s something good on.
