Kosmos Taverna – FallowfieldOkay, we all know Frankie & Benny's is a chain of restaurants but it's surprisingly not bad. I had the chicken dippers salad to start with, which whilst pricey was an ideal size for a starter. The chicken was admittedly bite-sized, but the whole dish was reasonable for a starter. It can be frustrating to get a huge starter which fills you up and empties your pocket. I would have been more impressed if the price of the starters matched the size of them, but anyway... Main course came and was again a perfect portion size to not be over-filling but definately ensured we left with my hunger satisfied. Service friendly and reasonable, whilst the surroundings were in need of a clean, for the booth we were in at least (food on the floor under the table). I'd definately go back if I want a light and reasonable American Italian meal.
Frankie and Bennys – Manchester City CentreWe have been here loads of times and its always really nice. It is a litle squashed but it makes for a great atmosphere. Its is always busy so bookings are essential, but this is not a bad thing. They also make the best garlic bread ever and as for the ribs...yum yum.
Valentinos Ristorante Pizzeria – StockportA superb restaurant. The food was cooked exactly as it should be and we could not believe how reasonable the price was.
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleExcellent food, well cooked, well presented and great variety. A regular venue.
Smiths Restaurant – EcclesIf you've tried other Mediterranean restaurants you'll know all about the mediocre food and high prices charged by some establishments in Manchester. How refreshing then, to come across Efes, an authentic Turkish taverna which truly expands its offering beyond kebabs and homous. Service was very friendly and professional, whilst the food introduced us to a number of different turkish dishes.
Efes Restaurant & Taverna – Manchester City CentreThe food arrived quickly, was well presented and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I would recomend Nutters for a special occasion meal as the price may not be to everybodies taste, One down side though - 3 months waiting for a table on a Saturday night. Having said that, the best things in life are worthwaiting for
Nutters Restaurant – RochdaleVisit Etrop Grange recently for first time ,Excellent! Will go again soon!
Etrop Grange – Manchester Airportinteresting and inventive specials board, with the jamaican fish stew being paticularly delicious, but with food of this quality (and price - youre talking city centre, not suburbia here) a suitably adventurous wine list is required (someone who knows how to make a G + T wouldnt go amiss either)
Saints Bar and Kitchen – DidsburyI must say that the Bulls Head have got it exactly right !! The food is fabulous and if you are anything like me, you love large portions of great food. If so this is the place for you. A cracking atmosphere. There is also live music on certain nights of the week. The Sunday carvery is wonderful.
Bulls Head Hale Barns – HaleCertainly has different items on the menu from the rest in Rusholme. Shared a dosa as a starter - very good. Food seems to be spicier (hotter) than in some other restaurants in the area. This might become a place to visit regularly.
Punjab Tandoori – RusholmeVisted yesterday. Food continues to be very good with an excellent selection of meze starters. The restaurant now operates a minimum £15 per head cover charge so isnt as cheap as it used to be.
Aladdin – DidsburyWe have a curry from the Bilash on a wekly basis either take out or eat in and the food is always brilliant with large portions every time. All the staff are lovely and friendly and do their best to please.
Bilash Balti House – SwintonABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, GREAT FOOD AND PLENTY OF IT!! GREAT SERVICE AND PRICE WAS EXCELLENT!! WELL WORTH MORE THAN ONE VISIT.
Giovanni Italian Restaurant – DroylsdenBesides the hundreds of kebabs of various varities I consumed as a student, I don't recall ever being for a real Turkish meal. The restaurant part of the Turkish Delight is extremely small and the restaurant has unfortunately gone the route of cramming as many tables in together as it can. For non-smokers I can see this being a nightmare. The food itself was nice, if not outstanding. The charcoaled chicken was tasty, the portions were a decent size, the rice was well done; I just felt it lacked the "wow" factor. Still, a pleasant evening out and a nice change, a worthy diversion once in a while.
Turkish Delight – ChorltonI'm a, soi-disant, curry connoisseur (aren't all Mancunians nowadays?). With that in mind I went to Great Kathmandu on Valentine's Day with high hopes, though tempered by the potential (and likely) let down. How wrong I was! The food is superb; being of the highest quality, the sharpest taste and the right amount. The service was fine, I suspect on a normal day (anything but February 14th) it'd have been excellent. The ambience is the same. It was extremely crowded and, even though we'd booked, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. If you haven't been to Great Kathmandu - go. If you have been, then why aren't you there now? Sheesh.
Great Kathmandu – DidsburyUnfortunately the excellent meal was marred by the service - they kept forgetting us so we had to badger them to get cutlery, to order, to get the water we'd asked for, to order dessert. A shame as the food was very good and the place is a lot warmer now they've redesigned the doorway!
Gio Ristorante – Manchester City CentreMy husband and I have been going to the Dilshad for about 13 years and also the sister restaurant Tandoori Nights on Middleton Road Manchester. We have never found an Indian restaurant to match the quality of food. We have travelled far but always look forward to a "Dilshad" meal - Carole & Ian
