After having walked the Fairy Steps, we sat down at The Wheatsheaf for some drinks. It is a nice place with good service. The evening we came back again for dinner. My wife ordered Salmon and I had Beef with stout which was really tasteful and recommendable. Unfortunately we are back from holidays now, but if I ever get nearby again, I will certainly visit the Wheatsheaf again. Please keep the stout on the menu! Best regards from Delft, The Netherlands.

An excellent pub and hotel which has a wonderful atmosphere and is very kid, dog and muddy boots friendly! The food is really tasty, excellent and friendly service and good value. I would recommend to anyone.

First time visit whilst on holiday. The staff were brilliant: a warm welcome when we arrived and good service throughout. A good short menu made it easy to select the sharing nacho plate to start and salmon and a steak ciabatta. All were cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and most importantly very tasty. When we are back in the Lakes, The Wheatsheaf will be a “go to” place to eat a value for money lunch.

Excellent food, nice atmosphere, would definitely go again. Think they could have done with an extra staff member but they were really friendly and helpful.

Very nice fish and crispy chunky chips with mushy peas for me. I could have done with more peas though. My husband had the steak pie and mash also with mushy peas, and he said that a portion of carrots wouldn't go amiss as they are not expensive and would be a contrasting texture. Having booked our table online, we arrived at 7 and had to queue for about 5 minutes to be seen and shown to our table, and the drinks took a mysteriously long time to arrive. However, we waited a relatively short time for our food. Overall a good experience, but we have been before and things were better.

Great pub food. Friendly welcoming staff. Good service. Fish and chips plus steak and ale pie to die for. Would definitely eat there again. Seems popular so be sure to book first.

Even though the waitresses were run off their feet, the service they provided was very good, indeed. The food, both presentation and taste, were excellent and yummy. The Wheatsheaf is friendly and comfortable. I would have, and, actually have had, no problem with recommending it to friends. It’s a good place. A keeper!

We stayed at The Wheatsheaf last year and said we would definitely return if back in the area. We popped back on Thursday 16th and booked a table for lunch and once again the food and the service was outstanding. We took our wee dog in to and they looked after him with water and a treat. We look forward to our next visit

Stayed here for a one night Sunday special. We have stayed here previously and it has always been a wonderful place to stay and eat but to be honest on this occasion it was very muck lacking in the quality of food offered in particular the sunday roast was very very disappointing, a crisp roast potato and meat quality is the heart of every roast and these where certainly lacking, the roasters had obviously been stood for some while as I could have bounced them off the wall if required!! I mentioned to the young waiter but he wasnt forth coming with any viable options not even an apology for the lack of quality. The rooms and drinks service were fine but hte meal spoiled what was supposed to be a weekend treat.

Arrived slightly earlier than our booking but was invited to have a drink until kitchen opened at 5.00pm. Service from all concerned was polite and jolly. Our order was taken as soon as th kitchen was open. Meals looked good when they arrived and tasted even better. We were going for Sunday roast but my wife decided to have fish and chips we she said was lovely. I got tempted by the Steak & Stout pie which I found tasty and delicious. All in all very deleted with our meals. We have previously eaten out here for a Sunday roast which was also delicious. They advertise a Sunday roast and stay with breakfast by an open fire, May do that later in the year when it's a bit colder.
