Really enjoyed our first meal at the Wheatsheaf. It was Sunday Lunch, which was very good and well presented. Loved the option of bottomless gravy! My husbands meal was the beef pie, delicious he said. I had sticky toffee pudding, yum with clotted cream no pouring cream available, what a shame!! They had run out of a few condiments too but it didn’t spoil the meals at all. Staff were friendly especially the lady in charge, we thought she made the place come to life. Wine was excellent so we can confidently say we will look forward to our next visit very soon.

An excellent pub, very welcoming, and the food was top notch, especially the plaice and chips! We had a lovely en-suite room with a very comfortable bed. We would definitely recommend.

Such a great pub absolutely lovely food delicious and hot and plenty. All staff very friendly and courteous. Plus dog friendly too. This is our 2nd visit and will definitely be back soon and recommend to everyone.

We love The Wheatsheaf. The food is always freshly cooked and served well.. The staff are all friendly and attentive.. We dined on Thursday Curry night and it was lovely, served with rice poppadum and bhaji, excellent value, highly recommended

Stayed here for mother’s day, was a great stay, loved the evening meal and the breakfast was even better.

Booked on a very busy Saturday night. Some dishes sold out but a good range of options and food good. Service also good despite how busy the staff were.

Funeral wake buffet Lovely fresh sandwiches, warm sausage rolls & lots if delicious home baked scones with jam & cream.Plenty of tea & coffee. We were upstairs away from other guests & left to chat & enjoy the food, no pressure whatever to leave.

The Wheatsheaf is a great pub for its old style atmosphere and very decent food. We had the game pie and the cheese and onion pie. Both home made and both excellent. Not so sure about the rest of the plate. Would much have preferred red cabbage to mushy peas (?!) with the game pie. And salad with the cheese and onion pie was also an odd one. Lastly as another reviewer has mentioned the menu choice is quite restricted which limits our enthusiasm for more frequent visits.

We had Sunday Lunch at The Wheatsheaf and it was excellent. We both had the roast beef and it was served with a delicious selection of vegetables, both roast and mashed potatoes and of course Yorkshire pudding. Gravy was plentiful, as it should be. We shared starter of Morecambe Bay brown shrimps which were served in butter. Perfect. To round off the meal we had an indulgent Creme Brulee. Would highly recommend. Staff were very friendly.
