We love this restaurant, amazing decor and excellent menu choice. The Service is great and nothing is too much bother. We recommend this restaurant to all our friends. In fact we have friends coming up from London to tomorrow who have asked to go and we are booked in once again. Can't wait :)

Superb service fantastic food.

My son and I went for a meal, my son had the mussels I had carb cake to start both were excellent, for mains My son had the lamb shank, which he thoroughly enjoyed, I had the lamb stew which was superb although I think they used scragg and there was some tough bits of meat, but can't wait to go back.

Had lunchtime special great service. Food was plenty and hot very tasty will be going again hopefully very soon as lots still to sample on menu.

Popped in here last night after the restaurant we were originally going to go to was closed. We were not disappointed. We got a table straight away as there was only one table with a large group on in the restaurant. I ordered the fillet steak & my partner ordered the Kobe beef burger. We could not stop raving about how good the food was. The desserts were also amazing. I got the chocolate brownie & my partner got the raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake which he said was possibly the best he had ever tasted! Even the wine we ordered (the rose Zinfandel was lovely). Overall would recommend to anyone , great food, great service!

I and my partner who lives in York booked a table for two, not having been here before. I have to say it was amazing, food was outstanding customer service spot on as I assess good customer service. I would have to say they pass 100% the owner was friendly and made you feel good to. We will go back there on our next weekend date well done silk room.

We dined here on 18th April for a birthday celebration and what a lovely little place it was. The food was some of the best we have had and we have been to a lot of places! I could not fault anything with the evening, the service was great, the atmosphere nice and relaxed and most of all the 3 courses we had were all fantastic. A definite must for foodies.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night and it was packed. The food was excellent. Had garlic prawns and Wagyu burger which was something I'd wanted to try for ages. Great menu included kangaroo for the adventurous. Wine list great. Service excellent and owner was working as hard as anyone else and very on the ball. Recommend a social meal here.

Me and my wife's family went to the Silk Room on a busy Saturday night. The Restaurant is of a smaller size but unlike a big chain Restaurant it has a lot of character and atmosphere. The food was brilliant. Scallops and king prawns were the choices between the four of us they were excellent. For the main course I had the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce, the sauce was thick and pleasant. The fillet was very tender and cooked med/rare to perfection. My wife had the monkfish which was one of the best she has ever had she quoted. Her parents had the lamb shank and they were also pleased. I will definitely be taking my wife and her parents back to the Restaurant. Thank you for a brilliant night.

I recently returned to the NE and was looking for a nice restaurant for a Saturday night which was not too over crowded and noisy and this restaurant was recommended. We had a no wait upon arrival and the setting was lovely, it's not a big place so I think you get a better feel for a personal more attentive service. The food was excellent, I had the fillet steak with prawns which was among the best I've had and given that I'm a global contractor I can say I eat out more than in.

Visited Silk Rooms for second time last night. We were a party of 6, & all of us enjoyed their meals. Service is good, friendly without being obtrusive, food is excellent. It has a limited menu, but everything is cooked well, & is beautifully presented. Good range of wines, & some fantastic champagne cocktails. Overall, I had a very enjoyable evening & would definitely return.

We visited for my daughter's 24th birthday lunch, as a party of 5 we had not booked and were delighted with the attentive and friendly service offered to us immediately. We had a very tight time frame as we were picking up our mother from the RVI your staff and chef did everything you possibly could providing delicious food and excellent, well paced service. My daughter was touched with the complementary glass of champagne and to finish us off some little treats to take to my mum who was leaving hospital after a serious operation. We sincerely wish to thank your staff; we have visited many hotels and resturants in the NE and beyond a rate you and your staff highly. We will be visiting again and recommending you to our friends and family.

This appears to be a pasty shop al la Greggs trying to be something different?I don't actually get the whole French thing - sausage rolls? Cheap factory made bread?Emporers new clothes?

A business like no other. The staff are extremely helpful as well extremely enthusiastic! The baked goods are exquisite and they offer such a wide range that it would be impossible to walk away empty handed! I would highly recommend The French Oven to anyone!

Have previusly purchased bread, cakes, and quiche's from The French Oven and at Halloween had pumkin cakes that were delious and very moist, we also bought scones that didn't make it to our home as we ate them wandering around the market ! The staff are lovely, and they have great product knowledge, prices are really reasonale. The only problem I have is whatever I buy , we all fight over it in the house,, and I never tire of eating it, which is a bit naughty !!, Well done to the whole team gor delivering great home made products !!!

Went to sambucas on the 28th December with a party of 6. Didn't even know it was there. Cannot fault anything, service, food and the price of bill. We all had the 3 course special everything was spot on, shall be going back very soon x

Really enjoyable experience. Know the manager Sammy from his days at Sambuca, Fish Quay ,North Shields. Both of these restaurants never fail to impress.

Never been but sounds good. Going today.
