Nice menu,good selection I had the chicken…..oh my goodness,it was Devine I struggle with big meals but this was perfect,I never clear a plate but this was so tasty,every part was well cooked and seasoned..the sweet potato arancini was so good and the chicken was moist with beautifully charred My husband had the fish/chips which he said was hot and tasty… I really wanted to thank the chef personally it was so good Highly recommend Plus the service was great,lovely staff.

my place to stay over the last couple of years due to family commitments, I've been made to feel very welcome with excellent good value for money rooms, but the best part is the restaurant. The service, staff are excellent. They can't do enough for you and they know the dishes they are serving and recommend their favourites. Four of us had a lovely meal Saturday afternoon -- scotch eggs (always good), pork and fish n chips followed by lemon tart and raspberry and choc mouse with delicious ice creams.

Having had several overnight stays and evening meals over the last few years, I was somewhat disappointed with both the meal and service last night, neither of which were of the previously experienced high standards. Whilst I enjoyed the duck breast special, there was very little substance on the plate for £24. The meat and vegetables were lukewarm warm, whilst the few small potatoes were piping hot. My friend said that the Shepherds Pie was tasteless. Having never tried a sloe gin Bellini before, it had an unusual flavour, which although not unpleasant was not overly enjoyable. No one asked how how our meal was and so we said nothing. I also had to ask for a glass of Prosecco which was ordered to be served with the main course, but didn’t arrive until after it was finished.

First visit. We were welcomed and attended to immediately. Service was excellent. The menu choice was good, food was presented well and enjoyable. Atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. I would certainly visit again

Food was fantastic. Was a very busy service as it was Mother’s Day. Staff were great, didn’t have to wait long for drinks or food. Highly recommended!

Another lovely meal at the Nelson. Food is always excellent and service is the same. All the staff are very friendly and attentive, but not over bearing. Can’t recommend the Nelson highly enough.

Always reliable good menu and specials . Good service and ambiance. I think it is fair value foy money.
