Great service and tasty food in really generous portions! We go here monthly so will eventually run out of choices on the menu but so far have had the chicken & feta dish, the burger, the pie, and the fish and chips. Note: both pie options have mustard in them which is sad for me as I can't eat that so an alternative would be very welcome. We're thinking of trying the small plates option next time as I struggled to finish the burger and chips and my friend couldn't eat all of his fish and chips either.

4 of us visited on Sunday 12/05, and even at 12.45 when we arrived for our 1 O'Clock reservation the carpark was already full, but found 1 space in front of the pub, and the garden tables were already filling up. We were directed to our reserved table next to the front window of the building, which unfortuately is frosted over. Very soon our drink order was taken, followed a little later by our food order which after seeing the size of the main courses coming from the kitchen, we had all decided to decline a starter. 2 of us had the half chicken roast, and 1 had the beef roast, although she is not really a vegetarian my wife asked for the roast but without any meat. By 1.30 we were all tucking into our respective meals, each containing quite a large yorkshire, roast potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, grenn vegetables and a inclusive side order of cauliflower cheese. What a tasty meal well presented we all had, the chicken was still moist, and looking at the thick slices of medium rare beef on my friends plate I will try that next visit, which will be soon. Our problem was that even though we declined on any starters, after such a wonderful main course we felt comfortably full, so had to decline on any puddings also. 50 years ago it might have been a different story, when I rember we could all easily manage 3 course and have a cigarette between each course. My only adverse comment, is that although my wife had the full roast without any meat, there was no reduction in the bill. I did query this with our friendly and efficient waitress, who basically said unfortuately that is the system, the same as if somebody asks for a smaller portion, it is still charged at the one price. However I must stress that this will not prevent us from going again, just that my wife would probably choose something different from the menu.

Fantastic place! From the minute we arrived until we left the customer service was just as amazing as the food. Roast dinner is a must! One of the best we have had (and there’s been a few) Beautiful garden and street food served outside - we will be back to sample that next!

On a recent visit to Northampton, to say goodbye to my goddaughter, we discovered the Hopping Hare. We were looking for a delicious Sunday roast and the Hopping Hare did not disappoint. Great place and would highly recommend. We had visitors from Kenya and they thoroughly enjoyed the place.

We had a table for 8 booked for late Saturday lunch, we arrived an hour early due to an event finishing early and the team were extremely accommodating also allowing us to sit outside as the sun has his hat on. Everything was faultless, food was fantastic as ever, only slight two gripes would be one of our sandwiches arrived as a wrap and as our table was outside we had to order at the bar and couldn’t have a tab, we would have happily left a card behind. Well done team hopping hare.

Booked in for an early evening meal with my wife after watching the Rugby. Just really good all round. The greeting, decor, food, service. Spot on. Just 4/5 for atmosphere as it was late afternoon / early evening, so not many people in at that time.

Delicious food from a very good menu. Husband had steak- v nice- cooked exactly as he wanted. Mother had sea trout and there was a very slight delay (not a problem) as chef wasnt happy with how it cooked, so was doing another- delicious. You really feel all the staff care and really want you to enjoy your meal.
