Booked in here tonight for a table of 7 people . The table was reserved but no cutlery ,condiments etc in place . We asked to set up a tab as we knew we would be having a few drinks ,food etc but were told that we had to pay as we ordered . After one drink they ran out of ice , the meal came after a lengthy wait ( only two other tables occupied ) the adults scampi of which we had ordered two of varied from 6 pieces of scampi to 9 pieces whereas the child’s scampi at1/2 the price had 5 pieces on it !!!!!! We had to ask for cutlery, salt, pepper and sauces . There were no beer mats, no glasses cleared despite the table being full , they then asked if we wanted puddings before they had cleared away plates . Definitely a real let down and will not be returning again

Gorgeous old pub with stunning views over to Blencathra and the fells beyond. My lunch was lovely and portions huge. its near Penrith and on the way to Keswick and very near the M6 motorway so in a great spot!

Lovely tasty filling lunch in front of the fire at the Brackenrigg Inn. Posh homemade (including the bread) fish finger sandwich with a side salad and chips. Great views out over Ullswater and the snow peaked mountains behind. Will stay next time and try the beers from their own brewery!

Real Olde Pub it's walls oozing with history and folk lore. The food is out of this world yet reasonably priced and it's menu as refreshingly different and varied as I have ever seen in a Pub. Booked again for this sunday evening can't wait!

Just tried to book for a meal. Says dogs allowed on website, but they are not allowed while food is being served. So we did not book.

Arrived shortly before closing but received a very warm welcome and were shown to our table. Very prompt and attentive service. Excellent food, great value for money. Staff were very courteous and we weren't rushed even though it was getting late.Would visit again if staying in Penrith.

Excellent food, far better than "normal pub grub"! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. Good range of choices and very reasonably priced.

Great pub in a great location on the riverside at Pooley Bridge Penrith. The Crown In has one of the best beer gardens I have sat in on a lovely summers day with the kids playing in the water. Enjoyed the local Ullswater ale too.

Another great pub in Pooley Bridge. Packed on Saturday afternoon. We sat in the beer garden while the kids played on the slide. Great pint of Jennings bitter and a fine scampi with chunky chips. Spoiled for choice in these parts!

My family and I stayed up the road at the Waterside campsite and went to the Pooley Bridge Inn for food and beers. We were not disappointed and really enjoy their 'funday' that had on Saturday. Would return and recommend.

We visited the NT tea room at Aira Force on 23 July 2015 and were impressed with the cleanliness of the cafe, quality of food on offer and the lovely, helpful staff serving it. My teenage niece is a vegan and was thrilled to be able to enjoy the chocolate and coconut flapjack. So often there is little available for her when we eat out. There were tables outside as well but it was a bit too chilly that day.

My family like visiting the Lakes for walking holidays and Pooley Bridge is one of our favourite places to visit as its so beautiful and we love the ferry round Ullswater. I've visited Granny Dowbekins multiple times and there hasn't been a single time that I've been disappointed in the quality of service, food or location. The staff are all lovely and made me feel very welcome, the food is delicious (best gingerbread this side of London), and the location next to the river is very calming and especially pretty on a sunny day. If you happen to be passing through or nearby Pooley Bridge I recommend that you stop by and pick up a cake/sandwich and a doggy bag if you have a dog.

Me and wife called in this morning, had full breakfast and I can say one of the best breakfasts we have ever had and we are in our 50's.

My husband and I visited the Little Chef Penrith on 16 May 2015. On arrival staff polite and friendly, food excellent and property clean. Well done, would recommend.

Dougs Diner is the place you want to go for a fantastic cooked meal, whether it be your breakfast or evening meal. The food is piping hot and of great quality. It is not a place only for the lorry drivers, get yourself down there the food is excellent. Proper home cooking and cheaper than going to McDonalds lol.
