Ten-plus years of visits, and it’s been simply amazing every time. We’re only in the area a few times a year and this is a fixed point in every trip. Genuinely consistent in a way that’s rare.

I live locally, and Y Sgwar has become a firm favourite. Have been coming here for many years. It's tasteful and cosy, the staff are always polite, helpful and professional. The food is always AMAZING! No complaints whatsoever. My friend and I were there last night (5/8/26) and it was fully booked. On a Wednesday, that speaks volumes! Please do not change anything, as everything is perfect as it is!

A superb restaurant. Ingredients were high quality and local. Service was great and the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant was very busy and deservedly so. The staff were highly efficient and attentive.

We had an absolutely amazing meal here for our anniversary. There was nothing to fault at all, food (absolutely delicious, well done to the chefs), service and ambience were perfect. We will definitely be back when we return to North Wales next year

Our 3rd visit to this wonderful restaurant and whilst we holiday in Porthmadog. Sunday lunch is beyond epic, amazing fresh food cooked to perfection and generous portions too. Service is always excellent and my Mother, who is a coeliac, was well looked after and amazed to have gluten free gravy AND Yorkshire puddings AND dessert. Amazing place!

Another excellent meal. My salmon was delicious and my sweet, the best part of the meal for me! My partner had the Roas Beef and I tested it. Its was lovely and tender.

We visited Y Sgwar on Saturday before our Yr Wyatt’s climb and it was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere - warm, relaxed and welcoming- with attentive and friendly staff. The food was outstanding- generous portions and full of flavour, using fresh ingredients. Well fortified, we all reached the top of the mountain ! Thank you Lol and Dave and all the team. Don’t miss this place - an absolute gem.

This is the second time we have used Y Sgwar for a family meal whilst on holiday in Criccieth. this time there were 15 of us including a vegan and a coeliac. We had a fantastic meal, all served with care and attention, this is a superb restaurant, the food is wonderful and the staff were very attentive. Lorraine handled our booking so well and we had no doubt that it would be an evening to remember and it was!! We look forward to returning next year when we are in Criccieth again.

Very nice the best steak ever

Excelling. Food was excellent which is why we keep coming back.

Lovely meal had by all. Very friendly and accommodating staff when we had supper at the restaurant whilst on a family holiday. Steak was very nice!

Wonderful meal, really tasty food and great value too. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
