First time visiting A’vucciria, we went for our 39th wedding anniversary, and it definitely will not be the last.. The food was outstanding, as was the service and atmosphere.. Great wine aswell. Fantastic experience, well done.

Good choice (but wish I’d had the pie as lady on table next to us had it and said it was good!) reasonable prices compared to other places I’ve visited on my travels, lovely decor and I’ll be back to try something different next time in in the Valley.

The Whitchaff Inn – RawtenstallWe do go to The Whitchaff a lot but the latest visit was not up to scratch When we arrived on time booked, ta table wasn’t ready-no apologies. We were asked to sit at the bar, having a baby with us, this wasn’t the most comfortable of situations We finally got to our table 30 minutes late. When we sat down, we had to wait a further 10 minutes for someone to take our order. We weren’t asked if we had any allergies? The food once served was fine but we were not asked if it was ok No apologies when we paid our bill. We left with a bitter taste for once,

The service was awful despite the pub being half empty, starters were fine, but mains include fish pie that was just mush with hardly any fish fajitas with dripping greasy peppers and a cheese and onion pie that had gone flat in the microwave. No meal check or would have complained, everything seemed like too much trouble for the waiting staff!

The seafood spaghetti was a standout — generously portioned and packed with fresh, tender seafood in a light, savory sauce. The carbonara was rich and creamy, with pancetta that added just the right hint of smokiness without overwhelming the dish. Desserts did not disappoint. The cheesecake was silky and balanced, with a subtle tang that kept it from being overly sweet. The profiteroles were light, airy, and generously filled — a perfect end to the meal. Service was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and well-paced, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. The ambiance was relaxed yet elegant, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommended, and definitely a place I’d return to.
