Another lovely meal at the Whitchaff. Never disappoints, choice, service, food quality , value for money are always excellent. Already booked again.

Food was excellent and staff were great, however the first table we were allocated had a small round table and low armchairs which would have made eating very uncomfortable. Another round table had become available so we moved there, because the chairs were much higher and better suited to dining. The round table however was no larger and as we were a party of 4, and two of us had sizzling dishes with separate trivets, there really was barely enough room for 4 dinner plates, 2 trivets and 4 drinks glasses. We had booked the table several weeks in advance so were at a loss as to why we had been allocated such a table, when virtually every other party of 4 or more were seated at much more fit for purpose rectangular tables. We mentioned our dissatisfaction to one of the waiting staff, and within no time, a lady (manager maybe?) approached us and offered us another larger table in the other dining room, which fortunately for us had just been vacated. We therefore eventually had a great night and a very good meal in a comfortable environment. I’ve no issues at all with the staff who were courteous and accommodating throughout; but I have to question the policy of seating 4 diners at such small tables.

Great food. Could be a great restaurant, but spoilt a little by amount of drinkers at the bar (I realise that's what it's going for) and one waitress.

Took my 95 year old Auntie out for Sunday lunch. The food was fantastic and the staff really helpful and friendly couldn’t do enough for us.

Only the second time we've been but everything about the experience was excellent. Polite and friendly service, food was very tasty, all reasonably priced as well.

Love coming here. Excellent pub food. Great atmosphere and the staff are fab especially Rebecca.

Couldn't fault the quality of the food (shared hummus and olives with flatbread, followed by cheese and onion pie (me) and steak and Stilton special pie (him). Likewise, the decor in the pub/restaurant is lovely and the value for money very reasonable Those are the good bits. Someone needs to be in charge as front of house. There were plenty of waiting on and bar staff (it was a busy early Sunday evening) but no apparent order to who did what where We had booked, obviously, and yet we waited to be noticed by the young lady behind the bar before being haphazardly sent to a table for 4 which had neither been cleaned nor set up with cutlery. We then waited for our order for drinks to be taken, waited again for the food order etc. I have worked as a waitress. I have no qualms at all with waiting when the restaurant is busy. There were, however, plenty of staff on, but no one took charge of who did what. In the midst of the chaotic service, there was just one member of staff who stood out for all the right reasons: Lily. She made us feel valued as customers, was friendly and polite in her manner and served everyone with a smile. I asked for her name from the disinterested bar staff as I was leaving, exactly so I could give credit where credit is due. Your food, as always, was delicious but you do need to sort out your young servers.

Went here over weekend. Place is very clean and staff friendly and attentive. Food was served promptly after ordering. Presentation good and food hot and very tasty. Would definitely return

Great food, great service and all at a reasonable price.. ..additionally, the remodelling of the location has truly made it a class venue now.

We came over the weekend my first time since the refurb and what a difference. It’s a lovely welcoming bright space now. We had ordered a table and quickly ordered food. The food was really nice and the staff were really accommodating for my son who of course wanted something not on the menu. My only thing that I could say was the door where food is brought out was quite squeaky and my autistic son really struggled to handle the noise so once we had eaten our mains we did unfortunately leave but nothing a bit of WD40 couldn’t sort. I also think that the price was good for the portion size too we would definitely come back
