Where do I start. The marketing for this is so misleading! There is no lawn just a large dirt patch in a grubby old marque. Right next to the car parkWaited 20 mins for drinks so walked out really disappointed with the whole experience. Never again!!

The service was abysmally slow and the food was at least average. Would not recommend

Booked a table for 6 of us on Hatch on the Lawn looks fabulous on the web site but not so good in reality grubby marquee and seating area picnic tables were soaking wet waiter came over to take order for drinks but we were a little confused when he asked us to pay for our drinks before we had got them and also we assumed that as we were eating here we could have paid bill altogether 3 times we were asked !!?? The weather definitely was not in our favour that day so after our food we rushed our drinks and moved inside to the gift shop as it was torrential rain we made several purchases in the shop and as we waiting at the door for 2 others to finish their purchases the lady at the till very rudely asked us to move out and not to gather there was absolutely no other people in the gift shop and we were just waiting for the rest of our group , to make their purchases , extremely disappointed on our first experience.,

Was really looking forward to a lovely lunch on the lawn, the photos made it look and sound lovely and thought it would be a great place to go with visiting family as have previously had lovely experience in the gallery restaurant, unfortunately did not meet expectations and was a slightly wet picnic bench in bedrooms of the car park on something I wouldn’t describe as a ‘lawn’..The staff weren’t attentive and asked us to pay about 5 times throughout before we’d even had our drinks or food. We then went perusing in the gift shop and bought 6 bottles of wine and some soap so about £60. The weather was thunder and lightning outside and not taking time to rain, we were getting ready to leave and stood at the door in the empty gift shop and were asked to leave and move away from the doors or make a purchase (eh… sorry we just did)!! Certainly won’t be back again as for such a lovely spot reality was that it was a big disappointment!

The setting was lovely. The service was friendly but a bit slow at times. The food was good although portions could have been a bit more generous (larger portions of bread and salad are a great way of offering better value more cheaply!). It was disappointing to receive tea and coffee in paper cups when our meals were on china. We were disappointed that the Hatch closed before 4.00pm and we had to make do with the self-service hatch. It would have been nice if we could have sat in the Hatch seating area with our self-service tea rather than having to find a bench.

Birthday Celebration Met family for birthday celebration at the Hatch on the Lawn. There were 9 of us and l bought a couple of cushions for elderly parents to place on benches for extra comfort. Pleased to be under marquee due to weather. It is a very relaxed atmosphere. Dogs are allowed and families can also relax with young children in an outdoor setting. We could not fault the service. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. All meals ordered arrived at the same time . Portions were very generous and delicious. Also enjoyed a glass of Denbies sparkling wine. Wine, food and service were great. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you

Me and my husband had a lovely outdoor lunch (almost sunny!!) after doing the train ride round the vineyard. The service at the Hatch on the Lawn was speedy and friendly. The food was perfect for a light lunch and needless to say the wine excellent. Denbies is a beautiful vineyard and location surrounded by footpaths and amazing views of the Surrey Hills. It's the perfect venue for outdoor day.

I booked 5 places at the hatch as I could not find a site on line for the conservatory. On arrival we found the waitress short tempered almost to rudeness. the bottle of surrey gold was warm. We felt the menu very limited. We ordered 3 fish and chips 2 burgers. The chips were cold fish luck warm but tasty. the burgers were average but luck warm. One man ordered a pint of draft bitter and was given a bottle which he refused. We then had 4 coffees and could not wait to leave. I have had many meals at Denbies in the two other eating areas and found them very acceptable, however on this occasion wished we had visited the watermill nearby. there are many eating places between Shoreham Beach and Dorking perhaps we need to take a further look at some of those.

There was nothing particularly wrong with our experience, but I was left slightly unimpressed. We ordered two fish and chips and two glasses of Surrey gold. Wine arrived in two mismatched glasses which for a winery is particularly unexpected. The hot food was fresh and tasty. The ambiance could have been better. The outdoor dining area was little bit grubby and tired. The fencing used to separate The Hatch takeaway area is type used in demonstrations… The area though overlooking a car park had lot more potential if given a little bit more ‘love’.

The main restaurant was fully booked so we had to book for the Hatch on the Lawn instead for an anniversary treat after our vineyard tour. We were greeted by a friendly waiter and shown our table. Unfortunately the rest of the service was slightly lacking, there was a long wait for our order to be taken and the food was a bit lacking when it arrived (dry fish and slightly soggy chips). We didn’t stay for desert. This was meant to be a treat for my husband for our 39th anniversary - it wasn’t particularly special unfortunately!

The Hatch on the Lawn conjured up an expanse of lush green grass with the backdrop of rows of grape vines. Instead there was a filthy looking marquee and uncomfortable pub-garden benches right next to the car park! Having looked on the Denbies website, and being convinced by the beautiful images of the vineyard grounds I decided to book this for my partners birthday lunch last Sunday. We turned up feeling completely overdressed for what I can only describe as a food area that would have felt normal at a village fete, not a winery. It was busy, rushed (you only have the table for 75 mins) with no atmosphere. Benches outside the marquee were spaced incorrectly under the four large umbrellas meaning they weren't actually keeping the tables or anybody dry! The whole experience was disappointing. But I would say that the food was at least okay, so we didn't leave hungry, thankfully. Unfortunately my first, and now last, visit to Denbies was very disappointing.

Very disappointed. Booked this because the Gallery restaurant was full. Description suggested a nice seating area on the lawn. What we got was a piece of rough ground next to the car park with scruffy tables. Cheese platter had good selection of cheeses but the artisan bread, whilst tasty, was a tiny portion . As a birthday lunch location this was a big mistake.

Visited for lunch one Sunday after my parents had taken our two boys there during the week. When they went they all enjoyed it and complimented the food. Not sure if it was just due to the weekend but I was very unimpressed when we went back. Busy and made to feel rushed (the bill was brought out with the mains), given instructions by the server on how to leave a tip on the card machine (even though I could see they’d messed our order up already). The outside table area is next to the queue for the takeaway so kind of being stared at by everyone queueing for their takeaway. The food was mediocre at best. I had the ‘special’ which was a pulled pork bap. As somebody that makes their own bbq slow cooked pulled pork I was very disappointed. £13.95 for a tasteless paste in a large bap with a couple of pickles and a slice of tomato, three onion rings and some chips. The boys had some dry looking chicken goujons - we’d asked for adult portions but they brought child portions. Will not be returning. This was particularly disappointing as we had our wedding reception at Denbies so previously held fond memories of it. I would not recommend the Hatch on the lawn

When we arrived for booked time it was quiet. 3 of the 4 food items arrived quickly but we had to ask for the 4th to be told it was left on side! The peas on both fish & chips were stone cold on arrival at table. We were asked to pay as drinks arrived which was before food, and asked if we wanted to add a service but at that time we had received service so declined. We were not offered dessert or coffee when plates cleared away

Disappointing, there were tables not cleared all around us. When we arrived we were told there is no hot food available. We ordered two platters that stated served with artisan bread which was a very small roll. We must have asked for some water at least 4 times before anyone actually brought us any. Food is overpriced and service needs improving.
