Quite nice setting. Just not sure about being asked for a tip for the service and food long before even receiving our meal . Not sure that the staff were well versed in serving people. Just felt a bit underwhelming. You had ran out of any diet drinks. food was nice though.

I came for lunch in April and I wrote a glowing review but when I returned this month for a birthday tea, I was very disappointed. My booking was made weeks ago and I received a reminder on the day before my visit. However, when I arrived I was told that there was no booking and given an imperious command of ‘Show me your confirmation. ‘ Clearly, the word ‘please’ was off the menu. Having decided I could stay, the waitress made no apology and told me to,’ Sit there’. When I said that I would prefer to be outside the tent as it was a lovely day and a birthday celebration, I was told ‘ What is your issue?’ When my friends arrived, they were disappointed to learn that we couldn’t have plates for our cream tea as it was a takeaway service. Strangely, I thought we were eating in. Having ordered the Sparkling wine tea and asking if we could order a cup of tea, it arrived in a cardboard cup with the tea bag floating in it along with a plastic cup of milk. How pleasant! Presumably, this was because we were still eating a takeaway while sitting at the table? As a celebration this was somewhat a somewhat lacklustre event and not to be recommended. What a wasted opportunity.

A bit disappointing. Thought I had booked a nice treat but on a sunny day it was under a shelter with carpets and a car park for the view. A shame seen as the whole vineyard was beautiful. The food was just basic and I was rushed to order everything and then told it was my last time to order after being there for 20 mins.

Restaurant staff serving our table was not trained and hence had no clue. Table is given for 75 min and you need to order everything together. So our cheese, wine and main course arrived together. One needs to eat the main course cold post that: all bookings online - no one ever picks up phone for any issues / help. Walk around winery is lovely though.

Arriving at Denbies on a sunny day is a real joy. Unfortunately, the hospitality at Denbies cannot match the amazing scenery. The Hatch on the Lawn is not really on a lawn. It feels more like a run down field. The food is not even average, I am afraid. It's a shame the garden on the other side is only open to hotel guests as this is the real gem. I wish Denbies could improve on the quality of the food and make the whole atmosphere more personal and less commercial.

Pretty poor. We hadn’t been told that the kitchen would be closed by the time of our booking, 3pm. We didn’t expect our Cream teas to be served in cardboard boxes and paper cups with tea bags in situ. No plates, spoons or knives. No serviettes. Extra milk promised, but not delivered. Waitress only interested in securing gratuities, which she tried to hike, until discovered. Not an experience I should want to repeat.

I met a friend who I hadn't seen for over a year at Denbies Hatch on the Green last Monday for a relaxing lunch and a catchup. The food and service were excellent but unfortunately the whole time we were there was completely ruined by 2 small yapping dogs on the opposite side of the marquee to us. The 2 owners were actually encouraging them rather than trying to stop them with no regard for anyonre else there who might actually have been trying to have a conversation. I know this is not the fault of Denbies Nd there were quite a lot dogs there which is fine - their owners had obviously trained them properly and they were all well behaved but the constant piercing yapping of these 2 really ruined our lunchtime unfortunately and I would probably think again before going there again. I think maybe someone in management could have approached these ladies and asked them nicely to at least try and keep the dogs quiet as they were obviously causing a lot of annoyance not only to us but other guests as well

We couldn’t fault the service or the food. I also booked an outdoor vineyard tour which we all thoroughly enjoyed and would happily give that 5 stars too!

A friend and I have been here twice during the past month. On both occasions the service was very good. We both had a Panini which was served with chips and coleslaw. The Paninis were very nice but the chips on the second visit were warm, not hot and my first impression was they had been sitting around otherwise all very nice. Our coffees were hot, tap water was willingly offered and served. We did comment to each other how nice it was to be addressed as Ladies rather than You Guys! The one thing that could be improved is the seating, we were ok but I know I could not take some of my friends there as the seats have no backs, they are all picnic benches. A mixture of both would make it more appealing. Especially so as a lot of the customers are Silver Surfers and it isn't always easy for older people to get on those seats and would prefer back support.

This was our third visit to the Hatch on the Lawn and we had no hesitation taking friends who were visiting us for the day. The service was excellent and the food was good. Another enjoyable lunch and we now look forward to the conservatory restaurant opening!

I am not one to normally post poor reviews but feel this requires it. We had high hopes for lunch and sadly it was very disappointing. The service was non existent- we continually had to chase down members of the team to request food and drink. The food we ordered (platters to start and main meals) all arrived at once and luke warm. The pie was more like pukka pie- poor quality and available from most local chip shops and certainly not worth £12.95. We then saw that other tables had food not on the menu (burgers) which looked far better. The platters costing £14, were tiny & probably cost no more than £2 to make! We had to ask 3 times for cutlery to be told "oh we have run out" so our luke warm food continued to get colder. Overall poor for a meal for 4 costing over £100. I would not recommend and certainly would not go back after that experience. I know its trying times but this was a shambles!!!

Was certainly nice to have the marquee as cover on a wet day. Especially whilst eating. The staff where every pleasant. My only fault was to say the fish was just a .little over done.

Really helpful and cheerful young staff made the visit a very positive experience on a wet windy day!

This was my second visit to the outside dining, both times the food and service were good. However on this occasion despite requesting a table suitable for wheelchair use on the booking and again by telephone the day before, this request had not been actioned. I found that disappointing. The staff were apologetic, said the request had not reached them. We suggested putting two small tables together which worked, nevertheless it involved a certain amount of hanging around which, especially for the wheelchair user was embarrassing. And for me, having booked the event and twice ensuring the wheelchair space be available, irritating.

Not what we were expecting... the website is very mis leading... it is a simple cafe, with a view of the parking lot and the service / food is average.
