Superb.An American visitors first experience of English pub.Rack of robs unbelievable. Grandson from candada due over soon - no guess where we are going.

We visited on Good Friday and had an amazing lunch! Everyone enjoyed their meals, we had halloumi fries, bang bang chicken taco, fish goujons and southern fried goujons to start. All amazing, we shared! Then for mains, 2 people had the Burger Board which was huge! Burgers were so tasty and the onion rings huge! Myself and my daughter had the honey glazed salmon special and it was to die for. We really enjoyed it. Service was lovely as always and we shared a lovely bottle of Pinot noir! See you next time.

Delicious pizza, relaxed atmosphere and great service - what’s not to love?!

Had an amazing Easter Sunday meal. Big group of us, roast dinners were spot on! Big Yorkshire puddings too! Lovely staff, real fires and a nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

Booked for Easter Sunday. Waitress was so kind, moved me to another table as everyone coming in and out were pushing past my chair, not a good table to eat at in the main part of the pub where the bar is. Moved to window table ( still in bar ) but was so much better. The lamb roast was amazing and my friend had the beef, we eat everything on the plates. Waitress asking if we were ok, always smiling. I gave her a generous tip. Would definitely recommend.

Such a beautiful pub with views to die for and the most amazing staff who really go out of their way to make your visit a pleasant one. Special thanks to the lovely waitress sorry I didn't catch her name but her daughter works in the pub as well. She was an absolute delight. We were staying overnight in our Motorhome so booked a table in the Gallery Restaurant and were not disappointed as the food was excellent and very substantial and the wine was of excellent quality for the price we paid. We had a fabulous night followed by a peaceful nights sleep and will definitely be returning soon, Thank you.

We booked for a belated Mother's day and Birthday meal on Good Friday. The team at the Shepherds Rest are great, they were really accommodating around us bringing a birthday cake and even offered to put up a couple of banners which I thought was really lovely. Food was great, the menu had changed since I was last there but there was a good choice and really well priced for the quality.

We had a fabulous meal on Good Friday. 7 of us booked for after our walk up to Studley Pike. It took so long for our meal to come (we had been warned that it would be a wait, but it was over twice the time). The waitress serving us was really apologeti, gave us a free round and kept us updated. If she hadn’t been so efficient and helpful, we may have left. The food was more than worth the wait. Cheese and onion pie was probably the best I’ve had, their chips are epic and along with the mushy peas I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The others enjoyed the steak pie and gammon with egg. Deserts didn’t live up to the mains, too sweet and not great. We will definitely be back, I didn’t realise you can pre order which we will certainly do.

Visited here on recommendation, over an hours drive, great location , staff attentive , we booked a table had to wait 45 mins for food , but was worth the wait , so good , fresh ingredients, very hot , Will be visiting again to try the Sunday lunch

Site is our favourite place to get together with family. The staff are always welcoming and clearly enjoy their role. Had the special pizza, chargrilled Hawaiian with chilli honey, it was delicious. Highly recommend a visit.

Our favourite place to eat its about a 40 min drive from where I live but it's more than worth it. The food is amazing and the service is first class. Never had a less than perfect visit

Great place , food really tasty. Reasonably priced. Staff are so helpful and engaging. Definitely recommend and will definitely return
