Went on 3rd dec , food was , good service was good will be back . Weather was bad so was fairly quiet .

Amazing food and service. As always! The kitchen went above and beyond to try and cater to my needs and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Took my daughter for birthday and they were amazing with her. Pizza is always delicious and the service is outstanding everytime we have finished. Definitely a favourite of ours

Before we went: we changed the time of our booking at pretty short notice. The staff were very accommodating and we kept our preferred table for the new time. When we were there, the staff were very welcoming and professional. We had beautiful views over the valley. The menu had something for everyone (2 adults, 2 kids). Everyone was really happy with their food. I had steak & onion pie and it’s probably the best pie I’ve ever eaten; and let me tell you, I’ve eaten a lot of pies! This is the 2nd time we’ve been to The Shepherd’s Rest for birthday meals and both times, the whole experience has been outstanding. Just the right balance of informal atmosphere and spectacular food and scenery. Thanks for helping make my wife’s birthday special.

Our first visit and won’t be out last. Fantastic meal and service, compliments to the catering team. We are both formers army chefs and my friend still catering knows how hard you all work

Amazing food, brilliant service our favourite place for a family Sunday lunch

I booked a meal for my 90 year old mother and me for 5:30 pm on a Saturday and booked via the internet which was very easy. The staff were lovely and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, the atmosphere has vastly improved from what it has been in the past with previous owners and it was warm and welcoming. WE had to wait a while for the menues and once ordered we waited what seemed like ages for our starters and had an even longer wait for the main course to arive. We therefore didn't have a sweet as we were running out of time to get back for an appointment in town at 8:15 (Which we just about made, so you can tell how long we were at the pub. The meal was satisfactory nicely presented and hot with no complaints other than the side of sugar snap peas and long stemmed broccoli were barely cooked. I like my veg al-dente but these were slightly warm salad. My mother couldn't eat them and as I'm not too bothered about raw veg I at least had a good go at them. On reflection under cooked veg are bettter than over cooked veg. All in all we would go again

Visited with child, partners parents and 2 dogs. All ordered different meals and all throughly enjoyed. (Dogs enjoyed the available treats) Very busy, kept updated on wait times throughout. Absolutely worth the wait. Staff all wonderful, chatty, polite and knowledgeable. Catered without hesitation for allergies, confidently answering questions and liaising with kitchen. Great value for money, stunning dishes. Looking forward to returning.

As always, reception and speed of service was great. They accommodated our extra person with no fuss. Atmosphere was pleasant and although background music was a touch noisier than I'd like, the mellow tunes were ideal. Starters were spot on, one pizza was a touch gooey in the middle and went back for a few more seconds in the oven - no problems. Wine was reasonably priced as was the after-dinner digestif.

Fantastic food wonderful service and very reasonably priced. Took the mother in law for a birthday treat and we all thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be going back.

Our family of 7 celebrated my daughter's 40th birthday. We had a fantastic evening, 3 generations. We all enjoyed the food and drinks on offer, staff were friendly and we thought the cost was reasonable for our party. Staff were very obliging with our celebration cakes supporting our grandchildren to make it a surprise. A thoroughly lovely evening. Enjoyed it so much were thinking of making this a monthly visit so a ' no cooking' night for a change! Thank you!
