Friendly, very welcoming, patient, outstanding food. We were a group of 15 all the staff were brilliant, food was out in good time and all together and to a high standard. Couldn’t thank the staff enough for their service. Recommend Highly.

We use to frequent on a regular basis. Due to other circumstances we haven't been for several months. We were actually one of two tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The menu was very sparse compared to the previous owners. Very disappointed. Ordered the gammon which was entirely covered by the small egg. Very expensive for basic food...gammon, pie , fish etc.

The food and service were excellent as usual. The only thing that spoilt the meal on Mother’s Day was the position of the table we were put on. It was the first table on the right in front of the main door and this meant we were constantly disrupted by people entering, leaving and heading out to the WC’s. But the main issue was the cold and the constant draught that could be felt as the front door was repeatedly opened. It made it an uncomfortable experience. The front of house manager was very professional when I asked him if we could be moved, he explained that all the tables were booked through until 7pm. This is the first time I have had a bad experience at the pub but can confirm the food was still to a very high standard, they serve the best roast beef dinner.

We've not been to the Shepherds Rest for years and I must say the food was absolutely amazing. Really pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back soon.

We had an amazing meal, great service and a good mix of tasty options. Chef and server went out of their way to make me a dish from their evening menu at lunch time. I can thoroughly recommend the goats cheese and onion tart. My friend had the smashed burger and really enjoyed it. We were sad to see the shelters have gone near the playground or we would have stayed longer.

The perfect way to spend a Sunday lunchtime sat in front of an open fire with absolutely incredible food (hats of to the chef and his team. Pub Grub is an understatement this was much more. Lovely chatting to the new landlord and landlady who both seem to have hit the jackpot with this find establishment set in stunning surroundings. Good luck to you both and we will be returning,

Great food, friendly service. I went with my husband after a walk. Best Shepherds pie I've ever had and it was massive. He liked his generous sized burger with skin on fries.

I booked the Shepherds Rest for a surprise birthday meal for my wife. The food and service were great and everyone enjoyed their meals. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Shepherds Rest to family and friends.

Must be 30 yars since I was last in Shepherd Rest, I wanted somewhere to take the family for a meal and my daughter suggested it. All I can say is fantastic, the service was very good and the food outstanding. I like a good steak and I requested Blue, and it came out cooked to perfection. all 9 of us adults and children alike really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. I highly recommend and all of us are now planning on eating there again.

Another great meal, really sorry it will be the last under the current owners. Best wishes to Nat, Ollie and Lou and the rest of the team.

visited yesterday for the first time couldn't recommend it enough food was excellent best Sunday we have had staff really friendly and helpful lovely old style country pub will definitely be booking again
