Always have a fantastic time here- but last night 5/9/25 was the best time ever. Must birthday & retirement Hubby has both specials of onion soup and feather blade beef - always love this restaurant

My husband and I went for an early bird meal for our wedding anniversary. The staff are charming and attentive. There is a good choice for starters and main course. We went for French onion soup and prawn cocktail to start, followed by steak and ale pie, roast vegetables and chips. Everything seems fresh and home made and portion sizes are generous. Our food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty.

Had such a great evening at Y Sqwar as we have done on many occasions over the last 13 years. Food was amazing, presented well, tasted amazing. The team are brilliant, attentive and polite. Lovely atmosphere as usual and very relaxed.

A lovely pub, very busy when we were there. The staff were eager to please. Great breakfast. Good pub food in the evening at reasonable prices.

We visited Saturday and sunday whilst we were staying near by. Staff were more than helpful had a lovely hunters chicken and even got talked into having desert on Saturday, was not disappointmented. Had a roast on Sunday which was one of the best dinners I've had in a while, only slight negative part was my yorkshire pudding was flat, but I did seen funny side in it and was still very tasty, just ment I had extra room for the extra veggies I wanted lol. On both occasions we were made to feel so welcome with our dogs by staff and other customers. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again. Thank you

Second visit for Sunday lunch. Delicious lamb with plenty of fresh vegetables. Prawn cocktail small and did not like it served in a wine glass. Sticky toffee pudding very tasty. Lovely staff. Would recommend.

Fabulous meal and service. Three of us had the roast dinners, Tender, melt in the mouth beef and delicious lamb. My granddaughter had an Anglesey burger and chips, amazing. Thoroughly recommend and we will be back.

I eat out quite often and this was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The scallops were cooked to perfection and surprised to receive 4 in a starter! Duck for the mains and cooked pink exactly as ordered. The place was particularly busy this Friday, but the service was still excellent because the business is so well run with excellent team work amongst the staff, my compliments all round

Good food, reasonably priced. Always a pleasure. Our first choice for a meal every time.

On arrival, approached the bar spoke to somebody behind the bar gave our names for the pre-booking. She went off for 5 to 10 minutes came back and asked our names again. Disappointed that you’re not able to order starters. Food was ok, but felt rushed.

Absolutley superb food. One of thr best pub meals we have had. Lovely atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic evening meal we had at Y Sgwar in Portmadog last night. Very friendly staff even though the restaurant was very busy but we didn't feel rushed at all. We ate off the a la carte menu and ordered a starter & main meal each. The portion sizes were very generous for each dish and perfectly cooked. Y Sgwar is a top quality restaurant that serves excellent Welsh food that is reasonably priced. We highly recommend you visit this restaurant and we would definitely return when we're next in the area.

Excellent food as always. The staff sang happy birthday to me with a candle in my gorgeous pavlova. Would highly recommend eating here. You can book a table on their website.
