Group of 4 people for lunch. No allergies but we were asked nonetheless (brownie points!). Prices were reasonable given it is a city centre in York. Impressive interior - so much to look at & provide interesting topics for talking! Toilets can do with attention - aesthetically & functionally. Couldnt face dessert, even though it looked fab! First time visit & would look forward to a return. Would definitely recommend.

Me and my partner came for our lunch on Saturday 16th. The food and drinks were absolutely lovely. The service was very polite and we were quickly served. We would definately come again and have already recommended this to our friends and family. The Bistro is also very pretty and romantic.

We came in for food and drinks as a party of six on a recent Saturday lunchtime. Service was amazing throughout. We were served quickly and the waiter was extremely attentive, checking if we needed drinks and satisfaction with the food. The food was great and had a few vegan options as well as some great burgers. Value for money was excellent, portions were large! The Swiss burger even contained raclette cheese!

We have used this restaurant for many years, being locals and have generally had good service and good food. We were looking forward to the same on our last visit. Unfortunately something went wrong. The resteraunt was about a third occupied and ater waiting for over 30 minutes for our starter to be served we left. Unacceptable service. A dissapointing evening. It will be a while before we return.

I am writing on behalf of my wife and daughter. They had a terrible reception when they went to the bar to order a drink and food. Danny and Frankie (unclear spelling) spoke to my 65 year old wife and daughter doctor as they they were the scum of the earth and refused them because they stated that the two were drunk. Perhaps because my wife came from Ukraine and has poor English. Discriminatory location not to be recommended. They were very angry when they arrived home and wee certainly not drunk when they got off the train.

Table booked for 9 people, very fast service and the food was lovely. Very friendly and easy to book a table.

We booked Oscar's for a table of 18 people- the hosting was brilliant, quick communication, lots of help in setting up the booking and accommodating last minute changes in plan. The evening was lovely- a good time was had by all. The venue was accessible to our group's wheelchair user, and not too noisy, so as to allow for great group conversation.

As always the quality of the food service and location is exceptional. Staff discretely but swiftly on hand if required. Menu extensive, even the lunchtime weekday menu is impressive

Went for a late lunch on a Monday. Place was really quiet but the atmosphere was still fab. The staff were wonderful, especially to our little girl (1yr). Food was great and beer selection on point!

We've been going to Maxis for years and the dim sum is normally excellent. Although the food was great yesterday, the restaurant was packed and the service was disappointing as a result. Extremely patchy and slow delivery of dishes, with even identical dishes delivered separately, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal as a whole. Sure it will be better next time.

It was a family celebration and we had the 'Special Banquet' which was a delicious selection and was enjoyed by all.

As usual an excellent meal. Staff were helpful and the service was good despite the restaurant being very busy. The children enjoyed the expereince.
