Shoulder Of Mutton, Bury(Recommended by Janice)

We all went for lunch from work and I must say I was dubious but the food was absolutely delicious we all had something different and the food was to die for and the pub is a nice olde worlde pub with a nice roaring fire and the staff where really nice and friendly.

went here on Sunday and it was excellent. recommend booking as they were turning people away before 7 who had not made reservations as they were busy. food delicious and good value, childrens menu fine, service friendly and unobtrusive but there when you needed it, worth the trip the young chef has got it spot on and the busy pub showed that. Will be back soon.

Oriental Express (northenden), Northenden(Recommended by The Fine Diner)

I used to live in Didsbury and got a takeaway from here virtually every week, the food is amazing. It was great that you can watch the chefs preparing the food in front of you, which is different from what most takeaways do when they make your food behind closed doors. You can tell they use really fresh produce as all the dishes are really light, I especially loved the Singapore fried rice dish they do. The ribs they do as well as really good, again compliments to the owner for his ingredients. Don't get to eat there any more as moved away from Manchester now, highly recommended for anyone living in Northenden, Didsbury or Chorlton. Also it is much better value for money than all the Didsbury takeaways who in my opinion are all overpriced, including Globe.

Aumbry, Prestwich(Recommended by Optimumbiscuit)

Well, that's the 4th time I've been to Aumbry and the 4th time I've been thoroughly well fed and watered. It is fantastic that Prestwich has this little beauty of a restaurant. Lets start with the negative. The upstairs reception area could do with something to cheer it up a bit, and that is the only thing that I have found to be a bit underwhelming. The dining room itself although small, works perfectly for families and couples and also for large groups (we've had a group of 22 in over christmas.) The service is great and friendly, with advice on wines and descriptions of the food on your plate. The staff have mastered the art of being helpful and available when needed, but leaving you alone to enjoy your own company and food. Speaking of food, this is what Aumbry is all about. It hits the bulls eye consistently I had the black pudding scotch egg, which is just amazing. A breaded black pudding case containing a perfectly cooked quails egg. with a homemade tomato ketchup. yum yum Next I went for the rib eye steak. cooked to perfection, although I do like mine bloody, with fantastic homemade chips and garlic wilted spinach. It was juicy and tasty and the chips were crispy and fluffy in the middle. Brilliant Then onto the cheese course, four wedges of local(ish) cheeses and some stuff to eat it with. I found a couple of the cheeses too strong, but then I 'm not a fan of smelly cheese. My girlfriend ,who is a fan, wolfed them down! All of this was washed down with a couple of bottles of lovely wine, chosen from the perfectly sized wine list, and I'm happy, full of good food and wanting to come back. It's not cheap, but neither is it hideously expensive. And for food this good you should be expected to pay, surely that's the whole point of top quality. They do do all sorts of deals on afternoon lunches and such, so if you don't want to do the more expensive "a la carte" thing, phone them and find the deals Incredible food, great service and a nice place to eat. I can't recommend it highly enough

La Roma Restaurant
La Roma Restaurant, Bolton(Recommended by Kevin G)

Visited La Roma for the first time on Saturday night 6th March without prior booking. Although the restaurant was very busy we were accommodated without a problem. Very, comfortable and relaxing surroundings in the bar and restaurant areas. Excellent venue, excellent Host, excellent, staff, excellent service, excellent food. What more can one say?!!

The Village Inn, Urmston(Recommended by Macca)

Really good food and a pleasant atmosphere. A wide menu with Thai classics and specials that are less popular, really fresh and delicately prepared. Just over £40 for two courses for two people. We discovered this place by complete fluke - were fed up of the queues and hassle of the Trafford Centre so went for a drive - and struck lucky. Above the pub, the dark wooden tables and beams are contrasted by the light walls and high ceiling, and the light music allows for conversation (often about the food).

Buffet City, Manchester City Centre(Recommended by Paula)

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about all the positive reviews I had had read regarding Buffet City. It all sounded too good to be true! However, the food was lovely. Even for a family member who is not 'keen' on Chinese cuisine; they enjoyed the variety and the atmosphere. Would I go again? Yes. It's situated in a great place; the heart of the city centre. It has the friendly environment, the gorgeous food and a reasonable bill at the end. Buffet City is great for groups to meet at. Couple/first dates - find a cosy restaurant somewhere. Families - great for all.
