The Retreat, Southport(Review by Janet)

I love The Retreat! Relaxing and inviting, the service and quality of the food are great. Very reasonably priced and good sized portions- Elaine cooks everything from fresh. Try the Sunday lunch - great value and lovely tender home roasted beef .

Othellos
Othellos, Woolton(Review by Graham)

Eight of us visited Othellos tonight to celebrate a birthday party. The restaurant was warm and had a great atmosphere. We all commented on how good the food was. The service was great. Maria couldn't do enough for us. We said how much we had enjoyed it and thanked the staff for their attention and service. We had a really great evening, and will definitely being back there again.

New Orchid Garden, West Derby(Review by Hazel )

I have been to and had many takeaway from the New Orchard Garden. Last night I don't know what happened but when we got our meal home it was one of the worst Chinese meals we have ever had, what made it worse we had visitors, trying to make excuses after praising the restaurant .

Liberty Tavern, Woolton(Review by Jan)

We came here last Saturday and were very disappointed in the quality of the food. The salmon was a very small portion served with a cold sweet potato which was microwaved! for this I was charged £16 !! I complained and was given another microwaved potato which was hard !! couldnt be bothered complaining again .This is unacceptable for a Simon Rimmer restaurant, surely you could oven bake the spuds?? most good restaurants dont even own a micowave. My partner ordered a burger which was nothing special and not worthy of the price. No wonder the place was only a third full,if the chef does not improve Its going to lose more customers.Other friends have been and were not impressed .Felt it necessary to tell you this so you can improve ,The staff were lovely and we still tipped them as it was not their fault.

Thomas Rigbys, Liverpool City Centre(Review by Connor)

Excellent food and real ale. They have a fantastic award winning chef David Lee who will always cater for your needs. Lovely Scouse, homemade pie of the day and full English breakfast. Best food pub in Liverpool.

Red Lion At Mawdesley, Ormskirk(Review by Mawdesleytractor)

Mawdesley is very much a posh Surrey commuter village dumped in to the flattest, drabbest and obscure area of Lancashire. The village has a reputation locally as being somewhere a bit snobby and inbred. Indeed you're far more likely to hear Home Counties accents around here than Lancashire ones. Parking up, opposite the tiny village shop, flanked by the most Range Rovers I've ever seen in one place, at one time - I entered the Red Lion with some trepidation. It had been a few years since my last visit, and that wasn't exactly great experience. Fortunately the new management appeared to have opened the place out. It now seemed that people outside Mawdesley visited there. Last time I visited it was like something out of The Hills Have Eyes. A sea of locals all gawping because "a non-local" had dared to set foot in their tiny village pub. Anyway it wasn't quite that bad this time, The local, yokels must have been doing whatever they do in Mawdesley - which aside from inbreeding and driving Range Rovers doesn't seem much. Anyway that's beside the point. The drinks I had were OK, the atmosphere OK. An improvement on last time certainly.

Vincent Cafe And Cocktail Bar, Liverpool City Centre(Review by Pip)

My son and I had dinner here the staff we're friendly and service was good but the food was bad. My scallops sat in what I can only describe as vomit, the sushi was a blob of rice with a shard of cucumber and Crab stick. I will not go back or recommend it. This Beautiful restaurant will not last long.
