We have been visiting The Pheasant for many years on our trips to Keswick. The atmosphere is great and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent, especially the pheasant! Wine was very good too.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent food, superbly cooked using fresh and high quality ingredients. Couldn't fault a single thing. The pork belly bites which we shared as a starter were delicious, tender and flavoursome. I had two starters rather than a main as I wasn't overly hungry. The leek and blue cheese gratin was delicious and piping hot, The garlic bread was sliced ciabatta perfectly toasted and soaked in garlic butter. My so had the sea bass with tandoori butter which was fantastic. Such a delicate flavour perfectly paired with the salty samphire. We shared the sticky toffee pudding which was ever so slightly strong for me (more treacle than toffee?). We didn't have wine but the selection is very good and reasonably priced. Both of us would highly recommend the restaurant and the staff were very friendly also.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely bistro, nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Food lovely and a good choice. Only one grumble, ordered hand cut chips and got fries. Think they forgot as had to ask so got fries and at £5 this was disappointing and no apology or explanation. It was lacking something for £95. One drink each and 2 courses.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereVery good meal in a pleasant setting with friendly, helpful staff. The beef curry was rather hotter (spicier) than expected but the lamb rump was cooked to perfection.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickGood food attentive staff makes for a great experience.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickA relatively small menu choice, BUT the food was excellent. Very tasty, great portions and interesting! We felt it was a little over-priced (Lake District economy!) and whilst busy, not much of an atmosphere. However all in al, I would definitely come back.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereSunday lunch was the best I have ever had. Service was excellent too A little expensive but its a major tourist area.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickStayed at the Queens Head Inn 2 nights over the weekend with family. What a fantastic place. The Inn has so much character and a lovely ambience. The staff were probably the friendliest and welcoming we have ever met in a hotel, they go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay for their guests. We ate in the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. The food was gorgeous. It was fresh and good quality and enjoyed by all in our party. Highly recommend the Queens Head Inn and we will definitely be back.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithExcellent- good service, polite, professional and great food, I would recommend to all
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFabulous food!
Pig and Whistle – CartmelWe had a lovely meal. The Pheasant is a favourite of ours when we are visiting Keswick. The food and the service is always excellent.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe are not local but were staying in the area and googled find a Sunday roast near me! What an excellent find. Easy to book online, loved the simplicity. The ambience was just what we wanted, a lovely looking country pub. We both had the roast dinner and a dessert. They were top quality - wow the sticky toffee pudding was light and possibly the nicest I’ve ever had. The only bad point I can make was that service was a little slow, but it was very busy and some of the staff looked new.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWonderful evening once again. Great service and fabulous food.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleVisited with my family whilst on a visit to Carlisle. Easy to book on line in advance. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was rather slow to arrive but we were there at the busiest time of day, however it was certainly worth the wait. Between us we had pasta, pizza and fresh salmon (not to mention the desserts) and all were absolutely delicious :) I would gladly recommend a visit.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleEnjoyed everything. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe Wheatsheaf was exactly as described, a lovely, cosy pub with a great atmosphere and superb food, especially the ‘home made’ pie with mash and mushy peas…highly recommended! We’ll definitely back next time we travel to Scotland. Thank you, P Thomas.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeBooked on the Sunday morning for lunch that day. The on line booking was so simple and far better than ringing on the 'phone. My wife had the Roast Beef Sunday lunch which she found excellent. I chose the Burger which was simply awesome. Quite simply the best Burger I have ever had. Would definitely recommend both the food and the service. Thankfully no plastic palace. Just a very clean and simple Bar/Restaurant that was packed with more than satisfied customers by the sounds of it. Most certainly pre book on line. Highly recommended.
