Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe've lived local many, many years. We were told the food was good there now. Tried it kast night. Absolutely lovely. This is not good pub food, it is proper gormet pub food. This guy, guys, gals, know what proper food is. I hear he's worked at Farlam Hall, that's Michelin star first year of opening kind of place. No wonder he knows. We'll be back very soon, thank you.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe looked forward to a return visit to this bistro after our last time in Grasmere around 2 years ago. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. The main disappointment was the French onion soup that we both had for starters, excellent last time at best average this time. My main was ok, the steak, and my wife thought her chicken chasseur was very good. Service was functional.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereI had the fish pie, which is absolutely crammed with fish. It is the best fish pie I have eaten since last September, when I was last in the Pheasant. Add the friendly staff to the quality and value of the food and drink and a visit to the Pheasant is a must. I've just got time for another meal on Thursday before driving home the next day.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely Sunday lunch, with extra gravy and toasties. Delicious, thank you.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsHad a meal at the Hope and Anchor. It was my wife’s birthday and the staff made her feel special. Lovely meal as well. Thank you.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsGreat food. Very generous portions. Great beer. Lovely atmosphere. Serving staff very friendly. One of a handful of eateries in Keswick we would return to regularly.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent meal. Friendly staff
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeAtmosphere and service 8 May were fine. French onion soup was inferior and absolutely not prepared in the French method. Sea bass was tasty and well presented with plenty of vegetables.,
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereSmall plates weren’t great at all. Chicken was bland and chewy, £7 for patatas bravas which looked less than 1/4 of a potato. Pizza was nice and service was good but wouldn’t go back
Sage and Vine – CarlisleHad a lovely meal today the food was really nice cooked well ,service was great helpful and friendly
Queens Head Inn Tirril – Penrithexcellent really enjoyed the whole experience
Sage and Vine – CarlisleHad a lovely meal on Friday night - staff very friendly and efficient service. 4 of us had different meals and all enjoyed them
Pheasant Inn – KeswickHad dinner at Pheasant Inn yesterday, friendly staff, delicious food, very generous portions with side of vegetables included, nice atmosphere, good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickUnfortunately our review is not a good one. We made a booking online for 8:30pm but half the party knew they would be 10 mins late(two of us) so we gave our order to the other half to avoid any delays. We were not greeted with a warm welcome and told that the chef was “doing us a favour” in staying late as he had been on an early! How the internal rotas are the fault of the customer who picked the online seating option is beyond me. So the starter and main came all together and the quality reflected that the chef wanted to get away. After the food we wanted to stay for another drink but were the only ones left and we asked the girl if she was waiting to go home which she replied “actually I am”. Hasten to add we certainly will not be returning to this pub which is a shame as we have family just up the road and though this would be our regular when we stay.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithTwo enjoyable, one night stays on our way to and from Scotland. Our food on both occasions was excellent. Staff friendly. We will be back
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithWe were a party of four. The restaurant was quiet at the time of our booking. The service was fantastic . The restaurant and toilets were clean . We all enjoyed our meals and would happily return for another meal.
