A superb restaurant with a great menu. The warm friendly service was first class. I would not hesitate recommending this restaurant to anyone. We will definitely be back.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGreat food, great service and good atmosphere. Would eat there again.
Pig and Whistle – CartmelAs said previously, a little gem of a find. I am Coeliac and the chef (presume owner) came out to explain what I could have r that was gluten free and how he could adapt sauces. The meal was absolutely delicious. We booked for 6.45pm and it was a shame that there were only three tables in use, one being a single diner, all the time we were there. This was on a Friday night as well. I don’t know why but the location may put people off as it’s situated at the back of the chocolate shop and the outside doesn’t seem very welcoming. There is also a For Sale board prominently displayed on the building. I don’t know if this is the restaurant or the building itself. It’s a real shame as the chef obviously knew what he was doing and both my husband’s and my meal, were absolutely superb. He really deserves to be better patronised. It most definitely warrants a five star rating.
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereLove the pies at the Wheatsheaf, had a Game one and it was lovely. The chips are almost like a crossover with Roasties and that can only be a good thing. Staff are welcoming and friendly and it is a lovely old place. Lovely pint of well kept Cask pale ale made for a perfect lunch.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWent for family meal for daughters birthday, lovely pub, food excellent and wonderful service. I had beef and potato pie, meat was cooked to perfection. My only complaint would be that the menu had less choice at the lower price range than shown on on website, but there was more choice of pricier specials. But it was worth the money and all 5 of us enjoyed the meal we had.
The Royal Oak – UlverstonHad a fantastic first date here! The food was excellent and the service was wonderfully friendly. Everything was top-notch, except they weren't able to make me a Negroni. Otherwise, it would have been a solid 5 stars. Will definitely be back for the food and service!
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThe waitress was lovely and in fact all the staff were very attentive. The entrance through the public bar and through back corridors wasn’t very impressive - and the dining room very drab ! Was expecting oak beams and a cosy fire but room bland and basic . The food wasn’t very good but as it was out friends birthday we didn’t want to make a fuss ! We were asked if everything was ok and we said yes - only finding out later that no one enjoyed their food or experience
Pig and Whistle – CartmelVery tasty Sunday lunch. Well presented too. Love the quirky touches round the inn. An excellent team, kitchen and front of house. A great location, in the historic village of Dacre.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithFood always lovely and the staff are always very nice. Great atmosphere in a small country pub. We always look forward to our meals there, whether it’s an evening meal or a Sunday lunch. Don’t hesitate to book!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent meal. Food good, service excellent, the right balance of attention while respecting our time. Had lunch on a Tuesday afternoon so not busy therefore we were not rushed to leave and left alone to finish our wine.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleLovely food good vegetarian choice, the 2 for £20 was a great mid week deal! Waitress was so nice very helpful and knowledgeable about all the food, we will definitely be back!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleAte at the Pheasant on a Tuesday night in March and it was packed out. We both had the delicious venison bourgignon which was served with perfectly cooked vegetables. Portions were very generous so I didn’t get to try the desserts.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickReally lovely honest food, understated and no faffing from the staff. Well Definitely be back and happy to recommend to friends too - thank you!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe have been at Grants several times and have always been made to feel very welcome , The food has been superb each time. Looking forward to our next visit.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThe service was a little less than professional. The sea bass was good. The lamb was somewhat overcooked for my taste and the accompanying fondant potatoes burnt on top, so a rather mediocre dish. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. However I would have thought it difficult to spoil Eton Mess but the fruit in it was tasteless. There was dance music playing for some reason, which didn't add much to the ambience.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur friends took us to Grant's for a celebration. What a delight. We were thrilled with the presentation of our delicious food and the cooking on that note was off the scale. All round delicious. Of particular note were the puddings. Service was friendly, well timed, attentive and yet discrete, perfect.
