Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe went on a Friday lunchtime. The tables were full but it was not crowded. The pub was warm and welcoming. We have a large puppy, a German Shepherd. She was made very welcome and we didn't feel that she was in the way. We had an excellent lunch, two of us had Cullen Skink, which could possibly have had a little more of the smoked haddock in it to give a stronger flavour, but was very enjoyable. My husband had the steak pie which he said was excellent. We were too full to have a pudding! Will definitely return.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeBooked a meal for wife and I on Wednesday 29 th Jan. to celebrate my birthday. Booked online which was very easy. Table was booked for 6.30pm.we arrived and were quickly shown to our table, wine ordered, and the evening was seamless, attentive staff. Great food and wine, nice ambience, a lovely evening was had. Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsThought we'd try the Roast Dinner and very glad we did. Everything was beautifully done and tasted great. Crispy potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, well seasoned veg. The nut roast was also very tasty, not dry like some. We will definitely be back!

The Royal Oak – UlverstonWe went for lunch on Saturday 25.1.25. Pre booked. Busy on the day. We both ordered from the specials menu. We had the haggis neaps and tatties. It came with a large jug of gravy. The food took a while to come due to the volume of people , but it was worth the wait. We tried one of the guest ales, tiffin gold. Worth trying if you like ales. It was refreshing and went well with the food. For dessert we had the amble crumble with ice cream and the chocolate salted caramel tart with ice cream. Both desserts were lovely and we would have them again. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Would go back.

Sage and Vine – CarlisleThe quality of the food is always excellent at the Pheasant and yesterday wasn’t any exception. The chicken bacon and leek pie is an excellent choice as was the the chicken stew I had off the specials board. It is a very cosy, traditional bar with a great focus on quality food.
