The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessFanatic service lovely place and staff are so friendly and helpful. Overall experience 10 out 10 definitely going back .
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessService wasn't great, it took about 30 minutes to take our order. Our food arrived very quickly but our drinks not until we had eaten despite one of the waiting staff noticing our drinks hadn't arrived when the food was brought over. It was a lovely atmosphere on arrival however it quickly became very busy which did feel uncomfortable given the current situation. There was no government track and trace in place for the app. Only a paper form which was left on our table and others on leaving, this concerns me regarding data protection. While I realise that people are unable to wear face coverings, the two staff who had the closest contact with customers were exempt and this also made us feel uncomfortable not only for ourselves but also for them. The food was lovely, fresh and a good price.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessLovely lunch and catch up with friends yesterday. We ordered a Wrap, Baguette and Jkt Spud, there was a delay with the spud and unsure how the Chef could get that order wrong but was rectified within a few minutes. They knocked our drinks off the bill - offered us a free pudding but we were full from our meal. Will definitely go back.
Cibo – BarrowReally liked the atmosphere created in café, the front of house staff member was so friendly when we were waiting outside offering us some tasty bits while we waited. Everyone was really nice and quick inside, service really spot on and food was really nice we had full breakfast.... recommend. Also good for GF needs. Get there early as very popular. Will definitely be going again.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessExtremely busy. Temperature taken before entry is good, as is the one way system in and out. However, the first table offered was too close to others, so refused it. After one of our party sat there, it wasn’t re=cleaned before others were sat there. The spray cleaning to sanitise the tables is a quick wipe over, chairs not cleaned. Half hearted in a rush to get more people in. The waitresses were attentive, taking our order immediately. The food took almost 45 minutes to arrive.. obviously too many customers. I’m glad I asked for the drinks to come with the food, otherwise it would be cold by the time the food arrived. The food choice was ok, mostly pasta and pizza.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessGreat food Great service ,Lovely staff ,
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessWe visited the Lake District to celebrate our first wedding anniversary this past weekend. My wife and I are both fans of afternoon tea so we were overjoyed to find this treat only a few minutes walk from our hotel. The owner was pleasant, very friendly and the afternoon tea itself was delicious! We felt very relaxed and not rushed in the slightest. Would definitely return again :)
Cedar Manor – WindermereWe went on a Saturday night for a COVID safe meal as a couple. Cibo is still building its client base and sadly the restaurant was virtually empty and by 8pm we were the only customers left. Such a shame and so undeserved., as the food is very good, and the delicious house special, Spaghetti Diane, highly recommended. There’s still a bit of staff training required : I was served rose wine instead of the red I had ordered and had to convince the waitress it definitely wasn’t Cabernet Sauvignon, but it was happily replaced and service was friendly. Do try out and support this new, classy venture in Barrow : It deserves to be far busier and the new decor is lovely.
Cibo – BarrowI visited on Sunday with my 9 year old and 1) month old baby. I had requested a table with a high chair and near the window. On arrival I was offered a high table where my baby obviously couldn’t sit in a high chair so the lady said she would put me on the table behind. Not being able to see the table I said ok, however this one too was a high table so amongst the hassle she sat us at a table that hadn’t been cleaned and food was still in the high chair and all over the table and floor from previous family. She gave it a quick spray and wiped the remains on to the floor! It was really busy so had to ask for menu and again to order. I asked for peas not beans with my eldest sons meal and a rose wine for me. After the 45 min wait the food arrived by a not so polite man, when I asked about peas he response was we don’t have any not even offering any alternative! And the wine brought was white! Food was lovely however but the children’s portion was far too small. The decor is lovely just a little untidy, chairs etc not put bs k and tables clean. Oh and no cakes all just scones and flapjack.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessLovely lunch at charnleys at the weekend. Very busy when we arrived but by the time we had our drinks, the place had almost emptied. Quick service, we were in and out within an hour. Pizza was amazing. Everywhere was clean, very friendly staff, No complaints
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-Furness5 star.
Cibo – BarrowWe had the regular afternoon tea which was great value for money and the scones were amazing. At first we only had 8 sandwiches between 3 of us but when we questioned it they realised we were 4 sandwiches short and they quickly rectified their mistake. I will definitely be back.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessWent on Saturday, table booked for 3pm. Hugely busy, queue to get in. People not following Covid guidelines, not 2 meters apart. Lots of staff crossing over each other with people queuing to pay as well. Staff seem to be very chaotic in taking orders and delivering food. People around us waiting for extended length of time. Some understandable teething problems but there needs to be a bit of an overhaul. Regards Covid - not all staff wearing visors, delivering drinks/ food - should be left on tray for customers to take off, staff leaning over customers . No sign of staff cleaning hands during times of service, we were there for 2 hours Staff do not seem to be assigned to certain sections- this would be beneficial if someone tests positive at any time as you could contact a section of people and staff and not have to shut the venue completely Cleaning of hand rail/ tables etc - seemed inferior - no cleaning if handrail noted and a quick wipe of table only, no cleaning of chairs Payment - issues with some people paying at table and others paying at the till. System not updating quick enough meaning, previous customers orders still on our bill when it came to pay. Staff having to ask customers what they had to eat/drink, due to Covid - should be paying at the table really anyway but not enough staff to do that. Food is great though and cakes were amazing Other food we saw like pizza, pasta, flat breads looked gorgeous I won’t be back until restrictions are lessened as I didn’t feel safe with Covid measures in place, this needs to be stepped up. Hopefully just teething problems.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-Furness4 of us came for the luxury afternoon tea, although the food was lovely we felt you didnt get much for your money at all and as it was luxury we would expect a glass of prosecco to be included and not have to pay extra. The Bakehouse looks amazing but as it was so busy it spoilt the atmosphere as there were definitely to many tables to adhere to the covod rules and no social distancing what so ever. The service was great and can not fault the staff at all as they were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessHello, We were visiting the Lake District last week and staying in Ambleside. We like afternoon tea and became aware of Cedar Manor. We booked and experienced the most wonderful afternoon. The service was excellent, the surroundings spectacular and the tea with a special glass of Prosecco was out of this world. This really made a special interlude in our short stay. The Lake district is special and Cedar manor compliments it. Thank you
Cedar Manor – WindermereDecor was beautiful, nice job and liked the new entrance. Lower level was heaving , far too many seated too close together. Food was ok , but only had mains due to timings ...... seated at 1.15 pm .... main course arrived at 2.16 .... and the table was only ours for an hour and a half..... so after lunch coffee and puds happened elsewhere sadly . So so ..... would probably only go back for a drink when I was there for the shop . Don’t think I’d go again just for the Bakehouse .
