Fantastic place for a wedding. A 19th century country house perched on the edge of Lake Windemere. The place underwent a significant refurbisment in the last few years taking it back to its former glory. The restaurant has great views over the lawn running down to the lake.

L’Enclume – CartmelThe only problem with this place is that's is almost impossible to get accommodation in the summer. However this is a testiment to it's quality. A first class Gastropub!
Drunken Duck Inn – AmblesideWe stayed the night here at this wonderfully isolated pub and i have to say they have got things just right. The danger in the Lakes is that things get a little too twee and chintzy but here the decor and design is contemporary without being at all out of place. The public bar is a delight, albeit a little small, the bedrooms are comfortable and luxurious and the food fully deserves its AA rosette. I even liked the 'designer' brown bathwater!
