Unpretentious local restaurant with an excellent early evening meal deal - ideal pre-T20 at Headingley. Tasty food, friendly and efficient staff. Happy to recommend.

We ordered the fish pie and the burger topped with bacon and cheese. The order took over 30 minutes to arrive despite there being only 2 other tables occupied. The fish pie was very good, but the vegetables were a little cold. The burger sadly was not good, it was burnt on the outside, bone dry inside and the brioche bun was also so dry that the top was flaking. There wasn't even a salad garnish to moisten things a little. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and chatty and it wouldn't stop us going again. Just won't order a burger.

Lunch yesterday (Friday). Absolutely fabulous. We had a wonderful lunch, four of us. I had the fish platter (freshest fish I've tasted in the UK in years) my wife had the halloumi satay and the mother in law had the Caesar salad. Brother in law had the duck salad. All dishes were beautiful. Thank you Danielle and Patrick it was fabulous, we will be back someday.

We used to love vine restaurant but our last 2 visits have been horrendous . Last night we walked out before even placing our order . Asked for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. To be told we don’t do that…. just house red or white . Tasted it and it was like vinegar . The menu on the website shows monkfish hence why we booked. Upon arrival the menu was completely different with limited choices . This used to be a busy restaurant . 8pm Friday night only 2 tables eating ?? The best thing about the place is the saxophonist

Absolutely delicious meal catering for all our needs, we had one vegan one board. The food was tasty and plenty of it, we all left full! The staff were friendly and super helpful. All round great experience. We will definitely be coming back for more.

Always great food and good service despite being very busy at lunch times. Good options for those with allergies and they’re also very accommodating and helpful.

We dine out at Oscars possibly 3/4 times a month when in York and have done so for many years .Introduced by our daughter. We cannot recommend it too highly .Quality of food never varies from excellent ,service is always of a high standard ,atmosphere is perfect and in keeping with historic York ,and we rate it as value for money .

This was my daughters and I first time here. We were very early and did qualify for the early bird special but we had decided to try totally different food outside our comfort zone. BTW - the early bird is very good value, Great service , lovely food and reasonably priced. We will return.
