Great food at a great price! Service always with a smile - no task to much trouble. Great atmosphere for a relaxed bite to eat.
Shears Inn – HalifaxThe Staveley arms use to be a lovely restaurant with friendly unique landlords...however since it was taken over in October i have to say the general standard of the place has fallen dramatically and i will never be returning.....
Staverly Arms – RiponWe visited at around 6pm on a Saturday evening for pre-concert drinks & food. Fairly quiet at that time but the atmosphere was still good. Service was very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, 6 Tapas and a couple of drinks was £34 for the two of us. We left about 7:15 and it was just starting to fill up.
La Vina – Leeds City CentreWent for Sunday lunch to-day (18th January 2009) - absolutely fabulous food. Everything cooked to perfection. I have tried lots and lots of restaurants - but I would most certainly say that this is on my top of the list! Well done to Chef - Chris also to Lee - or it could be Lea! - and all the lovely waitresses. Thank You.
Moorcock Inn – Sowerby BridgeWoods Tea Rooms is a lovely place. The food is absolutely gorgeous. When I go I normally have a warm scone or pate from the specials menu, either way it still tastes amazing. This isn't all you can have though, there's a selection of different British foods to choose from. Whenever I go there's either a big queue or only 1 table spare to sit at. If you haven't been here before please hurry up and go!!!!
Woods Tea Rooms – Doncasterwonderful food, i had an incredible salad nicoise, and salts burger. A great atmosphere and a nice menu
Salts Diner – ShipleyVenue, service, & food are all fantastic here, 10 out of 10!! You can even see into the kitchen behind the bar through a large window & its cleaner than my kitchen at home.
Raj Pavilion Indian Restaurant – HullPlus points its cheap and that's all i can say is good about the place. Nothing was clean & the service was awful, small portions that did not taste that great. I would of walked out but was in a group.
Giant Panda – HullA Magnificent new Menu and Chef makes this Restaurant a must to visit. In conversation with the Management team here I was informed that all the food is prepared FRESH - There are No Frozen dishes here...The service is second to none and I can heartily recommend this local eatery. Another excellent point to make is that the starters are priced from £2.85 for Chef's Home Made Soup to only £3.65 for a huge portion of Prawns coated in Marie Rose sauce. And if you want to share then they offer a terrific selection of ethnic and Oriental starters, more than enough for two for just £5. 95: When it comes to the Mains there's everything from Roast of the Day with all the trimmings for £5.95 to a challenge if you're up to it to try their fantastic Mixed Grill at £10.85. As if that wasn't tempting enough. on Tuesday and Thursdays they have "Steak Night" and offer either 2 Rump Steaks along with two glasses of wine (remember that's for TWO) for £9.95 OR go really posh and have 2 Sirloin Steaks and a Bottle of House Wine -again for TWO- for just £18.50p other promotional nights include Tuesdays through to Saturdays the Chefs weekly Specials at £5.95 or £9.95 for Two: And Friday and Saturday Nights Curry and a Pint (your choice) for £6.95. All in all I can tell you as I told my listeners to my radio programme worldwide on www.bcbradio.co.uk "Carl Gresham & Friends" Sundays at 11am; Repeated Mondays at 1pm and again on Tuesdays at 9am -Give the Shoulder a Try - you'll love it... Carl "The Gresh" Gresham -Writer/Broadcaster..take a look at my website - it's well worth a visit www.carlgresham.co.uk
The Shoulder of Mutton – HalifaxWow! The Thai chicken burger looked spectacular and tasted fantastic. Will definitely be going again.
Arc – HeadingleyI had heard so much about Prashad, a wonderful vegetarian restaurant that was in Bradford. Then in early December at last I had the chance to visit it. I was delighted with what I found. The menu is more unusual than the standard fare found at other Asian restaurants. I have been to India and found the dishes such as bhel, pani puri, massala dosa, idli sambar, very reminiscent of my happy times spent there. All in all it was a most pleasurable experience that I hope to repeat many times in the future.
Prashad – Bradfordhad an excellent weekend with them after the new year, we had bb and evening meal - a gastronomic delight i can promise you!
Judges Country House Hotel – YarmAbsolutely wonderful, great food, great wine, great prices, great atmosphere. Having visited Italy on a couple of occasions i have to say that the food is very authentic and very well presented. Value for money is second to none and the restaurant itself is exceptionally presented and pristine. Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be visiting time and time again. Give it a try and i personally guarantee you will not be disappointed....
La Bella Vita – GarforthThis is the second time we have dined at the Frenchgate and once again, it was absolutely wonderful! David is an extremely attentive and knowledgeable host who obviously wants his guests to thoroughly enjoy the dining experience, right from the moment you enter the door. We had the BEST gin and tonics made by the man himself! The food was divine and the wine (recommended by David) was perfect. All in all, one of the best dining experiences we've had. Can't wait to come again!
Frenchgate Restaurant and Hotel – RichmondOnly a month to go! I can't wait for the new Oscars to open! How will I choose between the Biltmore and Oscars when they are next door to each other! Had a peep through the new doors when the builders were working yesterday and it seemed huge. But some how, it seemed just like a bigger better brighter Oscars! Hope only the location changes so that I can continue enjoying excellent food in a relaxed setting served by superb staff!
Oscars Wine Bar and Bistro – YorkTHIS IS A PLEASANT SURPRISE, NICE FOOD, VERY REASONABLY PRICED AND VERY FRIENDLY STAFF, HAVE I STEPPED BACK A BIT IN TIME?. DEFINITELY GOING BACK
West End Public House – CleckheatonWe have just visited this restaurant after reading a favourable review in a magazine in our B&B. We arrived and went downstairs to the restaurant to find a few tables with guests, but no waiting staff. After what felt like way too long the waitress appeared. Unfortunately the waitress knew very little about the menu and only told us after about 10 mins of looking at the menu that many of the shellfish dishes were unavailable... I ordered a half lobster to start, much of which was so over-seasoned it totally overpowered the taste of the meat. The main course of scallops was so over-seasoned with salt and pepper it was awful and the scallops themselves were overcooked - this is coming from someone who loves salty foods! It's a real shame as it is not often that we treat ourselves to an expensive meal and this could have been so much better. My partner's pumpkin risotto was very tasty and his starter of fishcakes were good, if a bit measly - so not a total wipe-out but we would not visit again.
Storm Restaurant – HarrogateAppalled by the attitude of staff and will never visit again. Went there on a recommendation from a work colleague and with great expectations but no table reservation - was rudely told that there were no tables available for another 45 minutes. A number of tables were patently empty. The arrogance and body language was striking and we (total 3 guests) were made to feel that we were intruders rather than guests/customers and in no small measure humiliated. Appalling and a utter disgrace to indian hospitality. I write as a british indian.
