We first visited the King's Arms forty years ago. It was a delight, the real deal. Years later it’s pretty much the same but something has been lost. Thankfully the magnificent old fireplace remains and a fire is kept burning in the grate. The layout in the old bar doesn’t work well and isn’t even as in the web site - it’s hard to get a seat even when there aren’t many people there. The main eating areas in the old panelled snugs are pleasant but the old world charm and character has been lost due to poor choice of decor and furniture. The menu was ok, very much standard pub grub with a couple of specials. It was tasty enough. The service was always friendly and efficient.
