Zeera Tandoori – HeswallFirst visit to spire, Wednesday night, we had the early evening menu as we had booked for 6.30.we started with omemade foccia bread and basil oil, then i had the crispy duck confit and for main course the sea bass, we shared a cheese which was a supplemented dessert, we had one bottle of wine and a bottle of water, the food and service was superb but most of all to me was the value for money, it was like an al a carte meal without the ala carte bill, only sorry i have not been before as its been open nearly two years,i will certainly return
Spire – WavertreeAs a local I visited the Anchor Inn yesterday evening ordering the lamb chops which incidentally were the dearest meal on the Menu, the meat appeared to be very good but had been spoilt by being under cooked and was virtually uneatable. The above situation was pointed out as a complaint to the Waitress when she was clearing the table with it being able to be seen how rare the meat had been cooked to, however I received no follow-up from a Senior Staff Member and this was the most disappointing aspect of my yesterday's visit to the Anchor Inn. feh, wirral.
Anchor Inn – HeswallI am so glad that I have found this gem! My husband and I stumbled upon bistro jacques by accident on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. After seeing the menu we had to check with the waiter to make sure that we were reading it right, all of this food for £6.95? When the food came it was delicious. It's not very often that you can find 3 courses for £6.95 these days, and if you do its probably pre-packed rubbish, but here the quality of the food was amazing. I can't wait to tell all of my friends. You must go!
Bistro Jacques – Liverpool City Centrei recently went to the cowshed restaurant for a evening meal. i have never eaten in the evening before ive only been for a light lunch in the pub. i was drawn to the restaurant by the publicity in my local paper recently. the meal was lovely, and the choice of specials and variety was great. the service was very friendly. the only thing that was slightly disappointing was the deco in the conservatory, i felt that it let the rest of the lovely building down and needed brightening and updating. i will be going again!!
The Wheatsheaf Inn and Cowshed Restaurant – HeswallMe and my boyfriend go here a lot, but it can be hit or miss. It depends on whether it is busy! I go for the BBQ chicken and ribs with herb potatoes which are very nice. My boyfriend loves the chicken breast sandwiches. We both get a starter, a glass of coke each and a main meal and it is always around £30 for the both of us. Waiters and waitresses are always very nice there. The only annoying thing is when its somebodies birthday they turn the lights right down and bring a cake out and sing happy birthday - It happens at least twice while your there!
Frankie and Bennys – WavertreeI went for a meal on a friday night at 7:30 to the 'portrait house' and it was absolutely wonderful! Having never written a review before i was compelled by my lovely experience. Great atmosphere, great menu, very high standard of food and service. Only disappointment were the puddings, sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles. They were not as superb as the rest of the food. Most likely bought in, but we were so full by then it didn't really matter! Great place - highly recommended!
The Portrait House – Hoylakeit is a very calm and clean environment the food is extremely tasty and each time gets better the price is also very good
Tokyou – Liverpool City CentreI have been to this restaurant before and was not impressed but decided to give it another go. Unfortunately it was even worse the second time. The meal started off well with a fabulous starter, the bruschetta was really nice. However, no sooner had the waiter taken away the plates from our starter and the main course arrived straight away. This made us feel like we were being rushed and the waiter continually hassling us did not help. The main course was disgusting. I ordered the pan fried chicken in breadcrumbs which I would strongly advise to avoid at all costs. The chicken was dry and salty and looked like it had come fresh from a Bernard Matthews box in the freezer and the spaghetti could have easily been emptied from a Heinz tin straight on to my plate. In a word, the food and service was dire!
Il Forno – Liverpool City CentreWe had a party of 10 from University go to this place, and it was fantastic, cheap food, large portions, excellent service. We will definitely be going back! Not sure about the booths, shady deals a-plenty but the restaurant is first rate
Uni Restaurant – Liverpool City CentreI was recently taken for a meal at Blundell St for my birthday by my girlfriend. Upon arrival, I thought it rather curious that there was a bouncer on the door (a bouncer on a restaurant door does not bode well, in my opinion). My partner & I were taken to a table right in the middle of the restaurant, which was extremely poorly lit. In fact, I've been in caves that have had better lighting than our table! When our food arrived (after a fair wait, I might add) it simply could not be seen, so it's impossible to comment on the presentation. The quality of food is reasonably good, but not as good as I was expecting (certainly not to the levels the reader recommendations would indicate). So as well as our darkened table and the slow/poor service, our night wasn't made any better by the screeching harridans on neighbouring tables. One table was a birthday and the other was some kind of work night out. The noise from these two tables completely ruined any kind of pleasant ambience, romantic or otherwise. It certainly made me understand the reason for the bouncer on the door if this is in any was typical of the clientele of this establishment. The cabaret act were okay. One singer was actually excellent and did a really good Dean Martin impression. The other sounded like he a clothes peg on his nose - not good! By the time they came on though, we'd had such an unpleasant experience that we weren't in any frame of mind to enjoy the show. In summary, don't go! For the price paid, there are so many other better restaurants in Liverpool.
Blundell Street Supper Club – Liverpool City CentreHI MY NAME IS RACHEL I AM 11 YEARS OLD I VISTED THE PUNCH BOWL WITH MY MUM AND DAD ON THE 24TH OF NOVEMBER.TO BEGIN WITH I WAS SERVED THE WRONG MEAL, WHICH WAS QUITE PLAINLY ORDERED CORRECTLY. HOWEVER, THE WAITRESS INSISTED I HAD ORDERED THE MEAL SHE HAD.FOLLOWING THIS, MY MUM ORDERED A BEEF CURRY WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE GRIZZLY MEAT.AFTER OUR MEAL MY DAD THEN ORDERED ME A VANILLA ICE CREAM, SOME 20 MINS LATER IT ARRIVED!... OVERALL I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE PUNCH BOWL AS I AND MY FAMILY WHERE TRULY DISAPPOINTED AS WE HAVE MANY TIMES IN THE PAST VISITED AND FOUND TO BE VERY ENJOYABLE. I DID GIVE THE MANAGER MY OPINION, HOWEVER HE JUST SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS.
Punch Bowl – WaterlooSadly very disappointed with our recent LCW experience. Been twice previously and thought it was excellent but it's changed in the last year. Fine dining and bistro now combined but clearly still a divide with the layout. With the prices I expected excellent fine dining service which we did not get. Food was very delayed (it took 1hr 20 mins before we got our starter and 2 hours before we got our mains), we did get offered some bread after 1 hour but no butter or oil! Felt ignored when trying to get attention from waiters/waitresses even to get the bill. I have emailed the restaurant twice outlining these and other concerns but after 2 weeks have not yet received a reply of acknowledgment of my complaint let alone an apology (despite getting an automated response, so I know the email has been received). I do not recommend TLCW.
The London Carriage Works – Liverpool City CentreFantastic every time that I have been I have had great food and service. Never once felt rushed in making choice's for food and never felt that we were in the way as we took our time of the food. Would recommend this place to everybody, except don't want it to get too busy!
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreVisited Your restaurant last week, 4 of us arrived at about 1.20 (lunchtime) we ordered our meals (not just pasta or Pizza) it was a full meal. We then ordered the house wine, we did not like it so we ordered a bottle, only to be told by the waiter that you closed at 2 and would we have time to drink a full bottle. This was not to our liking, we cancelled the 4 meals and cancelled the wine, Was it that you did not want people in at lunchtime, if this was the case then you should close for lunch. The waiter did not want us to order. I do not think the waiter was the owner. Very bad mannered. We will not be visiting your restaurant again. I hope you publish this, not just the good recommendations. Jean Price 40 Halifax Crescent Thornton Liverpool L23 1TH
