Nice food very friendly staff.
Ravelston House – EdinburghOur table was booked for 2.30pm and we had all pre-ordered our meals. We noticed a lack of staff, and those that were there appeared not to want to engage with us. There were no crackers on the tables and the restaurant was cold. Absolutely no Christmas spirit at all. Our starters arrived at 3.15pm, though the pate and brie was served first and by the time the soups were served, the other starters had been finished. We were ordering our own drinks from the bar, but none of the glasses were cleared away until we spoke to you. We waited another hour and there was no sign of our main courses, and at that point my father asked to speak to you. You were very dismissive, and didn’t offer anything by way of apology. When the main courses arrived, these were definitely below a standard I would expect. The beef was tough, the turkey appeared to be out of a tin, the veg was hard. I emailed the above to the restaurant hoping for at least an apology, but after 10 days have had no response. Sadly, after many years of going to this restaurant, we wont be returning.
Ravelston House – EdinburghBeen here on several occasions Good Food but service this time very poor . Lack of staff this visit , Never written a poor review before. Staff from the office asked to help out
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingReally good service. Comfy atmosphere. Made welcome.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingFood was lovely when it finally arrived waited 20 mins for our drinks and 45 mins for our food people were coming in and getting theirs b4 us so terrible service got the dessert menu but nobody came to take our order so we gave up and left
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingOverall, average. Found the service to be rather slow, even though we were the only table eating. There was one other table of 4 however they had all eaten and were finishing up. It was just us but the food did take a while to appear. Staff were friendly however not very attentive. No offer of anymore drinks after our first order and plates sat empty on the table for a while before they were collected. Garlic bread was literally a slice of white bread with butter and a bit garlic over the top. Not what we were expecting and didn't taste that great. Creamy chicken and mushroom pie wasn't creamy. It was a runny clear sauce inside that also didn't taste that nice. However the steak pie my partner had was tasty and filled with meat. Overall average experience but wouldn't rush back.
Ravelston House – EdinburghAfter a bit of trouble getting in with my husband in wheelchair access not really disabled friendly,we all had a good time and I thought the meal very tasty and good value for money would recommend it
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingHi there it was ok but the restaurant was freezing and so was the veg
Ravelston House – EdinburghI have been to The Ravelston many times before. I found the Festive Lunch was very nice, however, the vegetables were overcooked and too hard. Apart from that, the staff, food and value for money were all excellent. i would definitely come back again in the near future.
Ravelston House – EdinburghHad a booking for Christmas lunch with a friend on Saturday the 20th,which was prebooked when we arrived was told that there was nothing in . my name for the Christmas lunch. .Was very disappointed the service was good and the assistant was very helpful. My friend had the beef which was fine, my Turkey was not what i expected I was very disappointed, also the potatoes were over cooked and the vegatables where hard.
Ravelston House – EdinburghMy friend and I had lunch on Tuesday which was delicious. We had turkey and cranberry sandwiches. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingStaff very friendly and welcoming. Food very good and served on hot plates. Overall excellent. Would recommend.
Ravelston House – EdinburghFood was beautiful, I had the Balmoral chicken, came out beautifully presented & tasted 10/10. Service was very lovely from the lady with short blonde/brown hair. Very warming & chatty. Lovely Christmas vibe, only downside there was no music at all. This let the amostphere down.
Ravelston House – EdinburghWe both had the battered fish and it was lovely. Melt in the mouth fish and crispy batter, piping hot.
Ravelston House – EdinburghDined at the Ravelstone with three friends . Good food and service ,our go to place for lunch where weare never let down
Ravelston House – EdinburghBooked Christmas Afternoon Tea as advertised in first page of the Christmas brochure. The waitress did not know about this and insisted they did not do this. Went to see her manager, eventually came back and asked us whether we wanted Christmas lunch or the ordinary afternoon tea. We got the right thing eventually but it was disappointing. Cold soup, no scones, had to go up and ask for the tea which was never refilled, plates not cleared, staff totally uninterested. Second time recently had a poor experience there. Definitely gone downhill since the takeover.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingGood atmosphere and warm welcome. Tiny prawn cocktail, main course was lovely but cheese board should have had 3 different cheeses however we only had lots of cheddar. Informed staff that we were disappointed, took £5 off price of cheese board.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingChoice of main dishes plus a free cold dish, £9.99. Available 12pm-4pm, Monday to Friday.
