Quirky pub with good food and lovely friendly staff
The Globe Inn Marsh Rye – RyeWe met friends here for a lovely sunny, cheeky school day lunch, and we had a very enjoyable time. The guys tucked into a ribs bucket that could have fed four, and our fish and burgers were excellent, too. The service was friendly and efficient, too. It's a lovely place off the beaten track.
The Globe Inn Marsh Rye – RyeGenuinely lovely food. Nice atmosphere and though busy we were never left feeling ignored, staff managed a perfect cadence of attention.
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaExcellent
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaAs always the food was delicious. I am sometimes unsure about the menu (especially when it says chilli or spices) but all the staff are knowledgeable and can explain which often makes me try something I wouldn’t have otherwise. I’ve never been disappointed. I had the skate on my last visit on the waitress’ recommendation - it was sooo good! Thank you.
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaWe had high hopes for this new place. It came recommend. We had aubergine to start. Way too salty. The Lamb pie starter was just hard pastry with no filling. Barely any meat at all. So no taste. We ordered wild boar ragu and the seafood pasta for mains. The seafood pasta was ok. But not enough seafood. The sauce was rather boring. The wild boar sauce was exactly the same sauce used int he seafood pasta but there was virtually no meat at all. Also portion size was half that of the seafood pasta. But the dishes looked exactly the same. There was no chocolate option for dessert. Never mind we opted for a baked cheese cake type affair but it was pretty awful, just tasted of an egg custard. Underwhelming and with supermarket vanilla ice cream on the side. Eating out is a major luxery these days as it’s so expensive. Was such a shame.
Ancient Grains – EastbourneSimply everything you want from a restaurant. Fantastic food , welcome, ambience, music, warmth. If you could just add a view of a Cornish Harbour you would think you were in Rick Steins Seeafood Restaurant.

The Denbigh – BexhillThoroughly enjoyable meal with excellent food, attentive staff and reasonable prices. Looking forward to our next visit.
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaWe had an excellent meal of a selection of small plates and a local rosé sparkling wine. The various fish dishes (and Indian potatoes) were delicious and their timing was just right.
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaExcellent fish dishes. Superb boullabaise and skate in capers, all with locally caught fish. My foody guests were very impressed and I was reminded what an excellent restaurant this is. The service was friendly and we were not on a time limit which made for a relaxing evening.
Into The Blue – Shoreham-by-SeaA small neighbourhood restaurant that is all about authenticity. Never having visited Sardinia, some of the dishes were unknown to me but super delicious. The braised baby octopus were outstanding.
