The Royal Oak – NantwichLovely atmosphere, lovely food - sharing boards and meatballs are always a favourite. A little Scandinavian gem in Macclesfield
The Salt Bar – MacclesfieldGreat to have the local pub up and running after such a long time. The food was excellent, and prompt, friendly service. Good value. An asset to the village.
The Royal Oak – NantwichWe didn’t have a great experience I’m afraid. It was a hot day so the doors had been left open however this resulted in the restaurant being full of flies which wasn’t very pleasant. The food was ok but around half of the chips were almost black and shouldn’t have been served. None of the staff asked if the food was or or whether we had enjoyed the meal so we just paid the bill and left. I don’t think we will visit this restaurant again.
The Royal Oak – NantwichOur first visit to the Royal Oak since its renovation....which has been done to a very high standard. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the food and service...there is obviously a major problem with the kitchen....we waited over an hour for our main course...someone also complained they were waiting for an hour and a half !! Another couple simply got up and walked out without even paying !! As for the food when it eventually arrived...4 out of 10....we will not be going back.
The Royal Oak – NantwichI'm afraid to say we were hugely disappointed with our visit to the Royal Oak. We were looking forward to our visit and had booked for 6.30pm on Saturday night. It was fairly busy but the service was dreadful, we waited 40 mins for our starter and were ready to leave just before our main course arrived after waiting another 40 mins, no one was even in a hurry to take the starter plates. The food when it came was not great, the pie was very disappointing and the chips were dreadful. Very disappointing visit I'm afraid to say.
The Royal Oak – NantwichVery good food & service was ok the WiFi went down & had to stand at the bar for 20 minutes waiting for someone to tell me what was going on until the manager sorted our bill. The Sunday menu was very limited for options but what we had was very nice.
The Royal Oak – NantwichFirst time to eat since the refurbishment and booking on the website was easy however didn't receive an email as confirmation so wasn't sure I'd been successful until I telephoned to check. It was a Sunday service so the menu reflected that, couple more choices for those not wishing for a roast perhaps but absolutely no complaints.
The Royal Oak – NantwichSecond visit of the week to the Royal Oak, arrived on Saturday lunchtime for 13:30 table booking but the ordering process failed. After 20 minutes I had to go and find the waiter to order the food and drinks. Once ordered the food arrived in good time and was excellent.

The Royal Oak – NantwichFirst time back at the Royal Oak since it’s refurbishment. Booking a table via the website was easy. Warm and friendly greeting from the staff upon arrival. Food was very good . Definitely will return soon
The Royal Oak – NantwichFood was good. Service a bit iffy - had to chase multiple times for menus/ wine choice ran out after first bottle/ bill miscalculated/ no real sense of anyone looking after our table of four.
Lilac Cottage Tapas & Wine Bar – MacclesfieldFirst visit after some friends recommended to try. Newly refurbished and very tastfully decorated. Couldn't give a great rating for atmosphere because we booked for 6pm on a Wednesday, so not many people there at that time. Really enjoyed the meal and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.
The Royal Oak – NantwichLovely meal, lovely environment and great service from Jack, we will be back
