Purple Pakora – MarpleWe reserved a table in the Secret Garden area of the TownHouse and enjoyed the drinks we had there with our friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual with deck chairs and tables dotted around. There were however a few issues with our visit that we would like to point out. 1. Upon arriving (and prior on Instagram) we were informed by the staff and signs on the tables that we should use the app to order drinks. We were fine with this and on the app you can buy £10 credit with £5, so that was a bonus. However the app then didn’t allow us to order. We spoke to one of the waiting on staff, who then proceeded to tell us the app hadn’t been set up properly to allow ordering and payment through it. We were told we could use the credit we had purchased on the tab ordered at the table so we didn’t think this was a problem. However when we came to pay the bill, no one had authorisation to allow us to use the credit. So we all have credit on the app that we can’t use. It wouldn’t be a problem if we had taken it upon ourselves to use the app, but we were actually told by staff and signs on the table to use it and then told 5 minutes later that it wasn’t working. I think that’s at best is poor training and at worst is actively misleading or miss selling, telling customers to add credit, knowing they couldn’t use it at that visit. This then is forcing customers to return to use the credit. 2. The other issue we had was the lack of facilities to change a baby, I understand that bars are not really child friendly places but this is a restaurant and hotel that has been open for many years and to not even have a flip down bench in either the girls or men’s toilets is poor in today’s world. I had to change the baby in an office on a desk, which wasn’t ideal. Although there were a few teething issues with the app and the lack of changing facilities, the staff made us feel very welcome and were attentive and the service was efficient. Even if we didn’t have a credit left over on the app, we would still be returning.
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterAmazing!
Sabrosa – OxtonFour of us enjoyed a lovely meal here at the weekend. Staff kindly accommodated a change in the time of our booking after I made a mistake when booking online. We were served generous portions of freshly made tasty tapas, with plenty of choice on the menu. I'm told the standard of the tapas can be set by the croquetas, and those here were very good. Lots of attention to being Covid-safe. Professional, kind, welcoming staff. Another addition to the good places to eat and drink in Oxton. Will be happy to return.
Sabrosa – OxtonClub sandwich was lovely. Skinny fries tasted quite oily but was only me that thought so out of our party. Good service. Little slow given how quiet it was in there but waitress was nice. Social distancing processes in place although was very quiet anyway. Portion sizes really good.
The Cheshire Yeoman – Ellesmere PortWe enjoyed afternoon tea in the secret garden which was lovely as the weather was so sunny. Food was lovely; afternoon tea included finger sandwiches, mini bagel and wrap with scones and cakes. Coffee was offered on frequent basis. Staff were really friendly and helpful. On the table there was a request for drinks to be ordered with a qr code; ive used others before but this was tiresome. Some of the staff said" don't bother and they took order" .
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterMy husband Doug and I booked into the Yeoman on Saturday 12th September, and had a fantastic meal. We both chose the fillet steak, which was so juicy and tender, then I had crackers & cheese for desert, which was an extremely generous portion and a great selection of cheese. Doug had the Apple & Berry crumble, which he was still praising the next day. Emily and her team are very welcoming and are keen to make your visit enjoyable.
The Cheshire Yeoman – Ellesmere PortBooked for drinks only on Saturday afternoon and added 2 friends at the last minute! Drinks quite pricey and served in plastic from the bar in the garden. Blowing a gale so not the best experience! Having said all that, the staff were lovely. They added our friends without a problem and moved us to a more sheltered table after complaining about the wind! I would definitely go back - the weather spoilt it, but on a sunny day I can think of nowhere better to while away an afternoon!
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterFirst visit to any restaurant since coming out of being shielded due to corona virus. The owners have made sure it is as safe as is possible for people to visit. I was really impressed with what they had done. Food as always was excellent and very tasty. Service was also very good. I would recommend any one to visit. They will not be disappointed
Helter Skelter – FrodshamLovely afternoon tea in the secret garden excellent service, staff cannot do enough for you.
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterWe turned up for our meal on the basis of the menu online which was great as it had plenty of vegan choices. They only had the takeaway menu on offer so we had to leave as there was barely anything on there. We got a half hearted apology and left. We went to Elixir and had a lovely meal there instead with great service.
Sabrosa – OxtonI've been here a number of times before and always enjoyed it. This time it was rather disappointing.very few very plain sandwiches.cakes appeared shop bought.nothing exciting.not good value for money sadly.
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterFriends had recommended we visit and we weren’t disappointed. Excellent food , well presented and nicely served by friendly staff. We had a table for four in the bar area but it was all very well organised with table service for drinkers and diners. We will certainly return.
Helter Skelter – FrodshamMe and my wife enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea in the garden area of this hotel, which was absolutely delicious. The hidden garden area is nice and quiet and looks gorgeous. The staff were really friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend this location.
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterMmmmm, lovely meatballs with delicious sauce & mash. Great service & atmosphere too.
The Salt Bar – MacclesfieldWent last Sat 5/9 with my husband for dinner and very very happy with the table set up all very socially distanced. Food and customer service was excellent so much so that I went back this Friday with a friend as it felt so safe!
The Cheshire Yeoman – Ellesmere PortRestaurant quality food. Excellent service would highly recommend.
The Cheshire Yeoman – Ellesmere PortThe food is the lovely & very good quality highly recommended. The staff on the other hand could be a bit more friendly not one of them had a smile on their face & one was quite abrupt. However this did not take away the fact that we enjoyed the food immensely . Unlike others we did not have to queue. Even though the restaurant did get very busy the tables were very well spaced out but a few of the staff did not wear masks.
