Great food, good value for money. Lovely staff.

I was looking for a restaurant for a special family meal and The Alvanley Arms was reccommended to me. I was disappointed with the table we were given, there were five of us crammed onto a table for four even though there were other tables available which would have been more comfortable. The pub/restaurant was nearly empty, admittedly the snow and ice were pretty bad and this made for a not particularly nice ambience. The food was ok but nothing special. One server was extremely morose and the other was a little to free with her personal life. We were about to order more drinks when we were told the pub was closing in the next ten minutes although it was only 9:40pm. I don't think i will be going back and could not in all conciousness reccommend it either.

Our party of 4 had a great meal with good beer and wine. The atmosphere was fine, although we were asked to leave at 2140, as the pub was very quiet.

Hubby had a mixed grill with salad ( MR ) I had a Wexford steak ( MR ) - followed by cherry pie and cream The steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious, the pub was cozy and warm ( very frosty outside) the staff were both friendly and welcoming ( as always ) Friday 9th January

This is a lovely local pub with nice classic pub food...always worth a visit especially mid week.

A friend recommended this restaurant - we were not disappointed! The starters were very tasty (spicy sausage and cheese rolls). My husband had the seafood risotto and declared it one of the best seafood dishes he has eaten! My pasta was very tasty too. Good value for money and excellent service.

We had an excellent Sunday roast. Good portion sizes, very tasty and the staff were very attentive. Beer was also first rate.

Sunday lunch here is absolutely fantastic! The quality of both the food and the service is outstanding. The ambience and the timings of the meal make you feel both relaxed and welcome. Really lovely, thank you :-)

Excellent Sunday lunch .As always service is exceptional as is the menu and food. I meet with a group of friends for lunch regularly and I have taken several other friends for lunch who have gone back with their friends .Never disappointed .

Visited for lunch, the food and service were excellent as always.

We had lunch at Bacchus on Friday 3rd January and the food and service were, as always, excellent. We are very lucky to have such a lovely, and reasonably priced, restaurant in our village and consequently we are frequent visitors and will continue to be so. The continuity of staff is noteworthy and their friendly and professional manner only adds to the dining experience.

WE have been going to Panama Hattys for at least 25 years so it was the obvious choice for my husbands 80th birthday lunch.There were 15 of us mainly family including adults and children.Everyone enjoyed it and we all ate very well.All the staff are very welcoming and the service slick but not rushed. We will continue to go there a few times a year.It is lovely.

Lovely to return to Bacchus once again, always a pleasure to enjoy good food, and wonderful service .

We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was cosy and friendly. The afternoon tea was nice, especially the Bakewell slice.
