Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyAgree with the previous reviewer/. Arrived on 5th November and the restaurant was largely empty which of course impacts on the atmosphere. However the staff and James the boss/head chef where very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent . I had scallops for a starter which were the most "scallopy" scallops I'd had for ages. For the main I had lamb which was melt in the mouth and in a delicious sauce. and then for a dessert I had caramelised pineapple, apple and banana in a ginger infused syrup with ice cream--the flavours in that were spectacular. I'm gob-smacked the restaurant is not full all the time . Couple of things...the lighting changes colours and doesn't doesn't do the appearance of the food any favours--when the lights shift to yellow/orange it looks beautiful, when its red it looks like something out of a horror film. The menu is interesting and I wonder whether it feels as adventurous as some of the menus you see on the plethora of tv shows nowadays. I'd have to say that what it doesn't bring out is the care that James takes in sourcing his food and the fact that he cooks his food better than the majority of restaurants in the region. We'll definitely be going back for gourmet evenings that they hold regularly there and I do hope that a few more folk go through the doors---the care and attention and great food deserve it.
Truffles – ChorleyThis was our first time at truffles and we were very impressed. Initially we unsure as it was a wednesday night and the restaurant was largely empty, however we were soon won over by the extensive menu and excellent quality food. The staff were very attentive and despite there only being a few customers the staff were thoughtful about the seating ensuring there was still plenty of atmosphere. We had a lovely night and cant understand why this restaurant isn't packed every night of the week with such good food for reasonable prices. We particularly liked the ability to mix and match between the bistro and a la carte menus meaning that a night out need not be costly either! Our only slight irritation was the lighting - whilst it did create ambience by changing colour, during certain phases of the cycle it was difficult to see the food!
Truffles – ChorleyMyself and 3 friends went to Papa Luigis on Wednesday night for a girly catch up – two of which have just moved to Euxton – I myself am from Oswaldtwistle (This would be my 2nd visit). To start with I went to the bar to order two drinks – a bottle of Peroni and a large Sauvignon Blanc. The less than happy waiter informed me they didn’t have Sauvignon Blanc and proceeded to lift out the only wine available (Pinot Grigio) and poured it. He then asked me for £12.55. I paused and queried this with him ‘’£12.55?’’ I got an eye roll and a ‘’yes’’ reply. I turned to my friend to make a point that I wasn’t going to be buying her one again! As I was getting the money out of my purse the waiter sighed and walked off! I looked at the screen of the till and it had on it PIONT GRIGIO £4.90, PERONI £3.40; I was that angry I didn’t do my sums in my head there and then! I left the £12.55 exactly on the bar and walked off. As for the general meal; the attitude of the staff was awful. My friend sent hers back because as it just looked so dry (Seafood Spaghetti). The unhelpful waiter didn’t even apologise just whisked her plate away. Then it was brought back by a woman who just put it down and mumbled something like “ is that ok”? But didn’t actually wait for a reply. At the end of the meal we discussed the food, the chicken was dry, the seabass (£18.90) still had full set of bones in and the beef stroganoff (£19.00) was chewy/grizzly and the rice wasn’t al dente – it wasn’t cooked! When the unhelpful waiter noticed we had finished (Still all plates half full) asked if everything was ok and my friend started to tell him why she had left most of her food; he didn’t even listen or acknowledge she said anything he just walked away! Dreadful staff and service. We will definitely not be returning and I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone.
Papa Luigis – ChorleyTruffles is worth trying- the food is consistently high quality at a very fair price. From simple steaks to more complex fusion dishes, James the owner/chef enjoys showing his culinary skills. The very wide choice of food, plus a small, but good wine list , combined with excellent service always make a night out there memorable . I'd recommend you try Truffles and support a quality independent local restaurant .
Truffles – ChorleyThe railway Gastro Pub. Euxton near chorley has great food. We went on a Monday evening and got half price steaks. I had a rump steak with real chips finished in dripping plus all the trimmings for just over £8. Sweets are delicious -try summer pudding its divine. All the staff were smiley, friendly and very helpful,, nothing was too much trouble. You need to book a table it gets packed.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – Chorleygood food, and good value for money, we did the early bird menu and would say that it did not compromise on quality
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyWe went to New Season again this week and, as always, had a great time. The food is always of a high standard with lots of choice, the tapas menu is our particular favourite. There is also a good selection of wines and cocktails and the staff are always friendly, helpful and take good care of you. Recommended.
Seasons – ChorleyThe Railway at Euxton serves exceptional food, and their black pudding starter is yet to be surpassed in any of the other restaurants I visit. The staff are efficient, polite and caring. A visit here is one to be remembered for the correct reasons.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyEver longed for top notch food? You know, the really good stuff that you see award winning chefs dish out on super large plates with all the fancy stuff? Me too. The only thing that stops me is the price and the stuffy atmosphere that comes on a side plate with passionless staff with no personality in the usual places. The Railway has fantastic food in a cracking pub like surroundings. With 'real' down to earth people serving you in a lovely attitude. The food is amazing. Made all the better by a proper pint in the pub just on the otherside of the bar to the restaurant! Bliss. A real gold mine this one. Shhhhh.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyThis Gastro Pub is local to us and we have been many times and had some great meals. Whilst the prices may seem high you can get half price steak and chips on a Monday which is the best we have ever had. There is an early diners option which is available up to 7.30pm during the week. Last time we went I had catch of the day which was sea bass which was cooked to perfection. My husband loves the roast dinners on a Sunday. Mushrooms on toast is another memorable dish (a starter) as it includes a little truffle oil. If you have room the sticky toffee pudding with cinder toffee ice cream is just to die for. Drinks aren't cheap but we normally get a bottle of wine between the two of us as these are priced at reasonable rates.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyGreat value for money, friendly and professional staff. Steaks are top drawer and we are picky. Great Gastro food, pleasant atmosphere and good choice to accommodate all tastes. We do a 32 mile round trip and think it is worth every mile of it. Enjoy
The Railway Tavern Euxton – Chorleythe welcoming atmosphere is almost as tangible as the smells are tantalising to your nose. the staff are attentive without out being overly so. the food is artistically presented and orgasmic to the taste buds - with every flavour coming through individually and not masked by over seasoning. if you have room and your a chocolate lover (this maybe 1 more for the girlies) try the chocolate velvet truffle dessert its as lightness will not stodge you out. yes the price is a little more than your everyday restaurant with everyday food but well worth it and you only need ti visit any fri or sat evening to see that with the amount of people there it has to be darn good.
Alghero – ChorleyThe food was very good and it has a lovely lively atmosphere but I am still in shock at the price of a glass of the house wine! 6-60 for a large, and 3-30 for a regular glass! I don't think i'll be rushing back!
Alghero – ChorleyFantastic coffee shop! Best cappuccino and mocha around, beats Starbucks or Costa any day. Lovely freshly made sandwiches and paninis. Very friendly place.
Coffee at The Carrington Centre – ChorleyWent for dinner last night with my husband and it was as always superb, the staff are so friendly and the menu is great sooooo much choice we both opted for food off the specials menu and was not disappointed my husband ordered Arabic Grill and i opted for the surf and surf fillet steak was one of the most delicious meals we have eaten in a long long time. It isn't the cheapest but you pay for quality and is definitely worth every penny.
Seasons – ChorleyI have been to Truffles on many occasions and have found it to be the only consistently good restaurant in my area. I believe that this is because the owner James is also the chef, and is always there. He even personally comes to the table to ask if everything is satisfactory. The food is always wonderful, and doesn`t seem to be as expensive as other restaurants that produce the same type of menu. I have also heard wonderful things about the gourmet nights, but I have yet to try one. I will keep you posted!
Truffles – ChorleyWe tasted La Rocca pizzas once and since then can't imagine buying anyone else's. We wouldn't even think about having a change of venue. The pizzas are simply sublime.... Arturo is a genius when it comes to pizzas and his Pollo alla Crema is extremely addictive served with steamed broccolli, carrots and Italian style roasted baby potatoes in rosemary. Our daughter is stuck between her two favourites - Spaghetti alla Carbonara or the handmade Tortellini alla Crema. And as for the ice creams - obviously homemade to a high standard, creamy and luxurious and the flavours change frequently. The sorbets are also wonderful but a sorbet is still a sorbet in the end and not a custard/cream based ice cream so choose thoughtfully. If we can't make it in we order and collect. We wish them every success and hope that they will continue to do what they do best and that is bring a taste and feel of Italy to Chorley.
