What a transformation, the place really has come to life. Great food as before but now lovely seating area's inside & out. Well priced menu & then shopping at Charnley's afterwards, well done all.

Had a lovely birthday breakfast yesterday. The food was incredible! So good that we ordered a luxury afternoon tea to carry on the celebrations at home. We absolutely loved the decor and new build outside, perfect for a rainy day! I can’t wait to visit again.

We loved our food and the service was wonderful. We were disappointed however to be say in a corner looking down an alley. We booked after seeing the lovely outside space and we were the furthest table away. It’s felt very disappointing. Make sure you ask for a good table!

Visited with a friend for breakfast in the new outdoor area, food absolutely lovely, lots of good choices and outside made cosy with blankets! Staff lovely and very quick service, couldn’t say no to taking home some gorgeous cakes too! Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

It's a 5* all round from us! Every dining experience we've had here has been fantastic. The location and surroundings are simply unique and we've always loved the ambience and the relaxed service - just perfect . We love the menu which relies on locally sourced high quality ingredients and have always found vegetarians to be well catered for (rather than treated as an afterthought, as is so often the case elsewhere). After a relaxed evening in the restaurant, what better than to retire to one of the spacious and extremely comfortable bedrooms. Honestly, you'll never want to leave these beds, they are so gorgeous! Augill Castle and the team know exactly how to help you celebrate a special occasion, escape for a few days to relax and recharge or just treat yourself to a meal out or afternoon tea. We've experienced pretty much all of these over the years and we keep coming back :-)

To stay at Augill is to arrive with an open mind, and allow it to percolate through your veins. It is unique and our family have seen the unique way it changes and yet stays the same over time. Since a cold February day on our first visit over 10 years ago, we have enjoyed watching the children run wild in the grounds, relaxed into the comfy chairs beside the fires in the Winter, and played games in the glorious flower gardens in the Summer. Our kids are now full grown, but still enjoy the visits we make from London every year, catching up with old friends amongst the amazing staff, and sampling the drinks from the bar they can now order themselves! Food, wine, and song were always an integral part of the Castle, but now Justin is building his reputation as a great chef with wonderful evening menus to try out. The afternoon teas are "to die for" and worth the wintery hikes and hard miles in the feet after the huge breakfasts. We love the rooms that attach to the main castle - in the days when the kids were little, they provided a space to go when tiredness and hunger got the better of their manners! Nowadays, we revel in the main house rooms, and can still get a cuppa whenever we want! I hesitate to say that this is not a hotel, but for us it really isn't. It's a way of living. As the owners once said - it's a place to leave your shoes at the front door and treat as your own for the time you are there. Despite pandemics, and nods to the changing styles, Augill still is That place - just come with an open mind & a pair of slip off shoes.

We had an absolutely sublime stay. The castle is stunning, the rooms gorgeous and the food to die for. Nothing is 'overdone'. The castle has not been renovated to within an inch of its life and wears its age with grace and charm. The food is accomplished but not overly complicated and absolutely delicious. Breakfast was equally as good as dinner. We didn't try the afternoon tea but that looked amazing too. We would highly recommend this restaurant and, if you can mange it, an overnight stay to round off the experience. One final word about the staff... the friendliest we've ever encountered in years of travel in the UK.

We booked afternoon tea for my daughters birthday yesterday. The ordering process was easy and we collected the food without any issues. The food was lovely and there was plenty to eat. The cakes were amazing and a great selection. The savoury selection was very nice but were either croissants or brioche buns. I think I would have preferred a mixture of brioche buns and sandwiches, but that’s just personal choice. All in all, it was a a lovely selection of food and we all enjoyed it

Had drinks and cakes. Drinks came and 3 times we had to go up to counter and ask for cakes, napkins, cutlery. We had finished the drinks before they arrived !! Everything was nice once we got it ..
