Original John’s Place – CarlisleWe have lunch here every time we visit Windermere!!!! we will be there tomorrow the food is fantastic,
Sutherlands – WindermereLove this place and now its got a new deli which is handy when we are in town!
The Wilsons Arms – ConistonThe best pub curry we have ever had. Better than most Indian restaurants too. Not rubbery and swimming in grease with tender marinated chicked, as opposed to those ropey frozen chunks you get in 'real' Indians. We had it takeaway which was very generous in size and the dish came with curried potatoes included. Had a couple of first class pints while I was waiting too!
The Prince of Wales – Broughton-in-FurnessGreat old world pub with lots of real ales on tap. Have been going here for over 20 years whenever i come to the lakes. They also serve great pub food. The pub is over 400 years old so has lots of character. Charles Dickens frequented the place back in the 19th century.
Hole in T’ Wall – WindermereSpur of the moment decision to head up to the Lakes last Friday night. Stayed at the Queens Head for the first time. Troutbeck is such a dramatic valley, close to Windermere and Ambleside but ever so peaceful. Simple to book online on their website the night before and you can even choose which room you want. This place has loads of character and we happily spent the night at a table in the bar in front of the roaring fire getting through a couple of pints of cask ale, a bottle of Chablis and a pot of mussels that was like something from Man vs Food. You will not go hungry here, that’s for sure. The room we had (8) was very spacious and comfortable and very good value. And if you like lots of cushions with your overnight stay, this is the room for you! The young and friendly staff were helpful and efficient and breakfast, which is an optional extra, was very tasty. Would highly recommend the Queens Head and we will certainly be back.
Queens Head Hotel – WindermereWhat a wonderful end to a walk around Elterwater and Little Langdale. The seating out front here is a real suntrap and once you’ve managed to snag yourself a table, it’s really quite difficult to tear yourself away. Just had a snack and a couple of pints of lovely Jennings real ale whilst sat soaking up the spring sunshine. I can’t imagine there are too many places better to eat al fresco in the entire Lake District.
Britannia Inn – AmblesideHello Preston! (Dave Tierney)I was pleased to read your kind comments, look me up on facebook!(I visited this restaurant many many times :)CiaoGiuseppe Carmine (former Chef at Rastellis)
Rastellis Pizzeria – WindermereMy wife and I with a famliy friend visited Keswick for a couple of days and were initially guided to Luca's by our holiday site. The first visit was really so excellent with friendly staff and delightful food that we returned the follwing night for a repeat experience, Both were oustanding in the quality of food and service - however more than twice a week would not do my waistline any favours. We look forward to a return next year
Luca’s Ristorante – KeswickBeswick's is a lovely traditional French/British restaurant with good attention to detail. a dying breed in today's climate. Very comfortable welcoming atmosphere the owner is an excellent host! Our food was delightful steak cooked to perfection and my starter of Trout was delicious. Beswicks has an excellent wine list and our Burgundy didn't disappoint. A lovely quirky restaurant well worth a visit.
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessLove this place! child friendly, big portions, great decor and friendly service. The children's portion sizes would suit and adult! The food is fresh and well cooked and the waiting staff helpful and friendly. Lovely
Swan Hotel – WindermereBrought my parents here, who were visiting from Canada and we all had a wonderful evening. A delicious meal, well presented with a wonderful combination of flavours and excellent service. Thank you all.
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickJolly good food in pleasant surroundings. friendly staff and a wide range of drinks and ales at reasonable prices. Also the pub was obviously well cared for as the tables were kept clear and the pub was a credit to the management and staff. Well done!.
The Miles Thomson – Wetherspoons – KendalGreat little cafe. Good food, lovely atmosphere. Excellent lasagne, soup and gorgeous icecream. Child friendly but busy! Fair prices too. We will return.
Bluebird Cafe – ConistonWe stayed at the hotel the night before my sons wedding, the staff could not have been more helpful, they even supplied a room for the Bride to change into her gown, The food was delicious, and the accomodation was great. Non of us could find a negative thing to say. Thank you again for making a special weekend even better.
Pinegrove Hotel – CarlisleNow in my top 5 favourite pubs! Reasons; 1. Rather than a Menu they have "Beer Blotters". 2. Brew their own awesome real ale. 3. It's quirky and privately owned. 4. Great pies. 5. When the landlady was asked for 2 halves of lager to accompany the 2 real ales, she replied "we dont serve that rubbish in here, we are a real pub". 6. Great views of Black Combe. 7. I can walk there from my new house. That is all.....
The Prince of Wales – Broughton-in-FurnessAs the name suggests this Cafe is in a great spot in Broughton square. Their USP seems to be big hearty portions and friendly service. Nothing hip or artisan here but thats why we like it!
Square Cafe – Broughton-in-FurnessOK, the range of Chinese food I can eat is limited to 8-12 items on most menus, however I have eaten in Chinese restuarants in China, Hong Kong, across Europe
