Finkles – KendalBy far the best Italian restaurant in the lisle! Exsiquite, Traditional Italian cooked food in a great atmosphere for a brilliant price with great staff to boot... I will be back
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleExpensive for what we got. Straganoff was very minimal. Childrens meals were atrocious. Burger slopped into basic unbuttered bun with chunky chips nothing else no beans/garnish very disapointing for the cost. Will never visit again.
Spinnery Restaurant – WindermereDo not bother ordering a meal if they are busy and have a large oparty to serve.Waited an hour after ordering food and still had not been served.Went else where
Angel Inn – Alstonthem lot have no respect for fellow asians. treated us like third class citizens. for them the shop is only meant for the 'white' tourists. of the two currys ordered each had only two pieces of chicken in it!!!! overall a very bad experience.
Prince of India – WindermereDefinitely the worst cafe experience I've ever had.The place looks okay, and the food was alright when it finally arrived but the customer service from what looked to be the owners was absolutely appalling! After a 40 minute wait for our food ( a simple sandwich and baked potato) I finally went to the counter and asked if there was a problem with our order as people who had arrived after us were actually finishing their food and paying up before we even got ours.We got no apology or explanation, simply a very rude "sit down and wait - do you want your food hot or not!"Do not go to this place if you value customer service. Very disappointing.
Butterfingers – Grange-over-SandsThis used to be a good restaurant earlier, but now I would say its one of the worst one in Lake District. Expensive poor quality food served by indecent people.. i think that says it.....:-)
The Spice Club – CockermouthI have lived in the Barrow area for 14 years, I still go home to Glasgow regularly and trek thro the Lake District, Lancashire and Yorkshire in search of fresh air, a good hike / bike ride and some good chips / beer at the end. I was devastated to get there at 4.05 pm one day to a definitive 'NO' when we requested a take away portion as the friers were switched off and empty , but I challenge anyone to find better chips , ANYWHERE! They are probably boiled or double fried but certainly roasted in some sweet Ambrosia to achieve a dark roasted , perhaps beef dripping like flavour , with a lovely silky soft brilliant white middle . Hurrah for the school hols, at least if the weather is rotten I know that the Bosun's locker might at least be open a little later !
Bosuns Locker Cafe – Barrow-in-FurnessThanks for the scrambled eggs also the lemon drizzle cake we ate it on the way home. Love to Auntie Betty.
Country Coffee Shop – PenrithWalked in here on Friday, sat down, was ignored by staff who didn't look remotely interested, walked out..
Finkles – KendalStayed there once 5 years ago......Faulty Towers had nothing on it.....disgusting bedrooms...no attention given to it in years...hope it's had a major refit and refurbish....and a massive clean up....
Seacote Hotel – St BeesI do not usually do reviews, but had to make an exception. Staying at Lakeside for three nights with my wife and had the misfortune to only find The Anglers on our second night. Ambience, service, menu, presentation and food all excellent. We will definitely be going back tomorrow evening. A must place to eat if you are in the area...shame its so far from London.
Anglers Arms – Ulverstonhad a week here at the wonderful lake district, and visited the wilson arms twice. excellent service and five star food. staff was really helpful, friendly cannot think of a bad word to say about this wonderful resturant/ b and b, would strongly recommend, also good value for money : ))
The Wilsons Arms – ConistonThis beautiful gem, WOW!!! The food is exceptional and presented beautifully. The Chef's passion is obvious in the menu which has something for everyone!! They serve locally sourced produce cooked to perfection. As we arrived the welcome we received was so warm and genuine. At the time of our visit the Chef has'nt got a Michelin rating but I have no doubt he will in time be recognised for his love and passion for good quality food cooked to perfection and presented beautifully!!
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickReally comfortable. Great food, wonderful hospitality
The Bewick Coffee House & Bistro – PenrithReally comfortable. Great food, wonderful hospitality
The Bewick Coffee House & Bistro – PenrithExcellent Thai Restaurant just opposite Zefirellis Cinema. We have eaten at their other place in Bowness and the food here is just as good. The decorations in the restaurant are amazing and really add to the meal. Great cocktails and wonderful low Thai style tables at the back with Thai triangle cushions. Knocks the socks of the other Thai, definitely the best choice for Thai in Ambleside.
Jintana Thai Restaurant – Amblesideexcellent food, excellent staff, highly recommended.*****
