A party of ladies enjoyed an exceptional lunch at the Gilpin Hotel. The hotel itself is gorgeous and what you would expect of a Relais Chateau establishment. Michelin honours looming I hope.

Gilpin Hotel and Lake House – WindermereLocal produce used in this cafe, lovely and very friendly staff. Goats cheese and cranberry muffin is to die for. I would highly recommend this, not over priced and a really lovely experience. 5 stars and look forward to coming back!!
Cafe Treff – AmblesideI bought two cod and chips tonight (Friday) and was very disappointed. The chips were fine but the batter on the fish was awful, it was soggy and tasted of flour just terrible. I have always come to the Windebrowe chippy and usually it's great but I am very sorry to say tonight it was not. I hope you appreciate this feedback.
Winderbrowe Chippy – KeswickCalled in twice during our stay in the Lakes, both times had an wonderful meal, found the staff more than helpful and very friendly, excellent service will return defo.
The Village Inn – WindermereWhat a charming host....Graham has a brilliant sense of humour and a very intelligent gentleman. The Tea room is a must on a walk, we thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there on Thursday last, when walking from Brackenrigg. Cake is lovely and the tea was just the ticket.....Really folks, you are missing out if you don't stop for a cuppa and a chat here. You will remember us Graham, I was the lady who had to come back for a second cuppa as I couldn't make the pass due to my fear of heights. The surroundings are great. We will definitely be back, thankyou Graham, a charming gentleman.
Low Bridge End Farm Tea Room – KeswickThe white chocolate and raspberry muffin was fresh and very tasty.
Cafe Treff – AmblesideI used Villa Positano Italian restaurant last year for a takeaway They were very accommodating and the pizzas were excellent; hence why we are doing the same again this year!!
Villa Positano – WindermereWe ate here as a couple with a young baby and found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. My partner had belly pork and I had the veal and found it very tasty. The decor is very nice and seems a welcoming family place to eat with plenty of room. Would recommend !
Angel Inn – WindermereWonderful welcome - very accommodating. We stopped off for a cuppa and a bun - lovely coffee and cakes and puddings were delicious. Definitely recommend!
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereBurger and chips and a scampi hit the spot on a cold winters night. Good pint of ale to wash it down with. Great fireplace and a very good looking restaurant area. The Crown Inn at High Newton is a superior pub.
The Crown Country Inn – Grange-over-SandsTrue success in catering for the public is not just measured by the quality of your food, the value you offer, the presentation and the atmosphere you achieve. It also comes down to basics like attention to detail, the owners caring enough to come and say hello to their customers, the little touches you didn't ask for but show they were listening, the smile on the waitresses face that says I like working here because they care. At Poppies, they have all this and more. Simple, quality food prepared and served caringly in a warm and freindly environment. A wonderful welcome everytime.
Poppies Cafe and Bistro – UlverstonThis new year my mate and I stayed at the Bull. If you want a clean room and warm, friendliness from locals and staff and food that's out of this world and not forgetting their own micro brewery beer,my favourite is K7 then you MUST stay at the Bull. DON'T BOOK ANY WHERE ELSE. Mention my name and that of Mark if you wish.
Black Bull Hotel – ConistonWonderful Valentines meal at Beswicks last night. Prawns on celeriac, sauteed mushrooms, medallions of beef, fillet steak. Followed by the best Pavlova we have ever had. Very good Cote de Beaune wine and a nice port to round it off. Good value and very good silver service.
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessGreat pub and awesome food!
Yankees – WorkingtonOne of best meals I have ever had at the Harraby Inn. Stayed 2 nights the room was spotless!!! Lovely friendly pub definitley recommend
Harraby Pub and Kitchen – CarlisleI knew Jumping Jenny's would be spot on the moment I walked in. Housed in the old stable block of Brantwood, Ruskin's house, It serves real foodie food but simple and not to one particular cuisine. I guess if the place was a cookbook it would be Nigel Slater. We had one of their famous flan's and the best lasagne I have had anywhere, firm but moist and not swimming in sauce. A roaring fire and an awesome view of Coniston and the Old Man to cap it off.
Jumping Jenny – ConistonWet through on a hellish night. Warmed up with some Lamb curry and beer. Excellent on both counts..
