Prince of India – WindermereWOW! What a place, hadn't heard such great things about it off quite a few local people but thought id try it for myself. The food was amazing. Lots of choice, 4 of us went about three weeks ago for an evening meal & I cant wait to go back. I had the pork belly which was fantastic but my girlfriend had a rib eye steak & my mate had a sirloin both of which I was very envious of. They looked so good & after tasting some of the rib eye I already know what I am having next time!!! King Prawns, Rib Eye & Cheesecake Please!!! Looking forward to it foundry with steaks like that you'll be packed out with locals in no time. People need to give the place a go before they try and put people off. Service was friendly but could be a bit quicker so I would agree on that point.
Foundry 34 – PenrithWe stayed at the Scafell hotel for the third time last weekend as it is just amazing. apart from the stunning surroundings and area (which speaks for itself), the hotel is lovely and the rooms are beautifully decorated to a very high standard. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to please us. They went above and beyond with their hospitality. The restaurant was very inviting and decorated very well, but the food?? It was to die for!! We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants and the food here was on par if not better than those..just divine! Their breakfasts have received awards and I understand why. A really good selection, served extremely well using the best quality products...the bacon is just delicious. We also had lunch in the riverside bar (a little more informal)...again the food was lovely, and the chicken in a basket was the best I've ever had (and went down with the kids). Overall you can not go wrong at this hotel...dont take my word for it...go yourself, and i bet you will be posting a glowing review too.
Scafell Hotel – KeswickGroup of friends and me came for a meal on Tuesday night and what can I say best meal I've ever had steak was cooked to perfection not many chefs that can cook a steak how you want it but oilys can so if you want a good night out oilys is the place to go best place in town
Oily’s – WorkingtonMy boyfriend and I had the pleasure of a short stay at the Scafell Hotel over Valentines and had a fabulous time. The hotel was quaint with a modern twist and the staff were very friendly. In the evening, after a romantic stroll along the river derwent, we ate in the restaurant. The staff showed us to a table in the cocktail bar, by the open log fire where we had a small tipple and some canapes whilst we perused the uncomplicated menu. We were then shown to our table in the restaurant. I opted for a goats cheese starter whilst my boyfriend chose a seasonal soup, both were absolutely delicious. We both selected the lamb shoulder with all the trimmings for our main, which was cooked to perfection. Whilst I declined a dessert my boyfriend couldn't resist - obviously I helped out! It would be hard to find fault with the Scafell Hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to a 2nd visit, a perfect slice of the Lakes!
Scafell Hotel – KeswickWe love this place and enjoy the pensioners special once a month. £6 for 3 courses. The Landlord is a lovely young man too!
Castle Hotel – Kirkby StephenWas recently walking in the Haweswater area and stopped for food after a great day out around Harter Fell, Ill Bell etc. The real ales were fantastic and the food I have to say was brilliant especially the fish dishes, we ended up staying the night in a very comfortable room 3 and went back couple of weeks later with some friends - great find and loved the place, well worth a visit
Crown and Mitre Hotel – PenrithWe have visited foundry 34 quite a few times now, the food is of a very very high standard. The puddings are fab & they bake their own bread which we always enjoy, the steaks are amazing, fillet and rib eye are the best we have had anywhere. The service however is a big problem, you never know how it is going to go on some occasions we have waited well over 20 minutes before receiving a drink or a menu even after reserving a table? then another 20-30 minutes to get our order taken. This does put us off but the food is that good it does encourage us to return as we find it hard to enjoy steaks anywhere else! The place itself is very nice. I prefer to sit downstairs but my wife likes the booths in the upstairs restaurant as she feels the bar isn't very cosy. The service problems do stop us from taking friends there as it is very bad & does need a major revamp - every new place has teething problems though.
Foundry 34 – PenrithReally enjoyed our food here it was fab! What a relaxing place with great service not over fussy but very attentive, wish there was more places like this!

Swinside Lodge Hotel – Keswickhad a surprise birthday party last night, staff were helpful and attentive we had 34 meals and all of them were hot and delicious. Would not hesitate to go back there. Well done chef.
Oily’s – WorkingtonWhenever I am in the area my first port of call will always be The Pheasant. The food is excellent, the beers first class and the staff and atmosphere are second to none. Jeff Petts
The Pheasant Inn – Grange-over-SandsExcellent restaurant, brilliant food and service. Highly recommended
Prince of India – WindermereI am a major curry fan and this was the place to be last night, don't be put off by the exterior off the building the meal was extremely good and service was helpful. Only downside is the restaurant could do with it being slightly bigger as it was getting overcrowded last night when they got full.
Prince of India – WindermereI have been to this restaurant and the food is wonderful and the service is outstanding. I highly recommend it. .....
Bengal Restaurant – KendalA legend in the Lake District for this family. Our children holidayed with us in the Lake District and we always end up eating and drinking here. Reliably good, consistent food, great drinks. Just what a cafe should be. The simple things done well. Atmosphere is warm on a winters day, our kids fell asleep whilst consuming hot chocolate, now affectionately known to us as "The Apple Pie Sleeping house"
Apple Pie Eating House and Bakery – Amblesidethe ship has a great location and views but the service and food is poor to fair which is a shame .
