Lucy4 Wine Bar and Bistro – AmblesideImaginative menu with beautifully prepared food. The location is good and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The service is excellent and even the meat lovers in our company had to agree that they didn't find anything lacking. We can't wait to go back.
Quince and Medlar – CockermouthIt is a pub, but one with plenty of seating, a cracking menu including a good range and one that will impress. Its expensive for pub food, but this isn’t really pub food, its better, so its worth it.
Kirkstile Inn – CockermouthAs a family we were able to choose from the bar menu and a la cartwith a choice of seating either in the restaurant or lounge bar. Any queries with the menu were answered by the waiting on staff and we were able to amend the ingredients. The service was fast and only on one occasion did we have to book for the restaurant as the hotel was fully booked with coach tours. The entertainment throughout our week stay consisted of session singers in lounge bar and Karaoke in the public bar on Friday and Saturday although this was a little load although a fun evening was enjoyed.
Seacote Hotel – St BeesI live about 40 miles away from the Bay horse but I have eaten here about 10 times over the last few years. Have had various meals and have yet to be disappointed. The staff are friendly the helpings are generous and cooked well and the price is cheap. Recommended.
Bay Horse – Barrow-in-FurnessThe old Arcadian restaurant is a family friendly with exceptional food. When we go to Carlisle we tend to go there for dinner. I would recommend it to anyone who asks me what is like.
Cavern Bar – CarlisleMy husband and I eat our best Thai meal at the Jintana. Food presentation was excellent and the most tastiest thai meal we've ever had. The restaurant was well decorated to a very high standard and there was a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. I just wanted to write to recommend the restaurant to anyone who loves thai food, especially hot and spicey!!! enjoy!!
Jintana Thai – WindermereLovely food and nice place
Lyth Valley Hotel – KendalDon't just eat the pizza and pasta although excellent the chefs special are outstanding. Have tried quite a few all have been great. Steak cooked medium rare as requested and lovely pink duck and lamb. Love Salvo's it a great place for a inexpensive family meal or a romantic meal for two.
Salvanas – Barrow-in-Furnessnice hotel, food was lovely, only prob beds bit uncomfy
The Elleray – WindermereI had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, was made to feel very welcome from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. The food and service was excellent, I couldn't fault it. I will be back as often as I can
Keez Bistro – CarlisleMy wife and I first discovered Keez because we were looking for a place to go for a change of scenery and somewhere nice to eat to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed! We went on a Wednesday night. They have specials on Tuesday & Wednesday. 2 courses and a bottle of wine for £35. This is really good value for money and the food was extremely nice. Keez has a lovely relaxing atmosphere with a really nice welcome from Lou & Ian the owners. Since going to Keez that night we have become regular visitors to the Bistro. Friday night steak night is great. Home made steak and chips for £8.95 as well as the ever changing menu to choose from. The menu does change every month with something different to try and something that would probably suite most people. They have a great selection of hand picked wines as well as a very enjoyable house wine. Please try it for yourself and I am sure you wont be disappointed.
Keez Bistro – CarlisleWe went to the Log House for my birthday dinner last week. We just wanted somewhere local to where we were staying so i booked it after reading the recommendation on this website. We decided to have a few drinks first in the lounge area downstairs. We were brought our menus & were able to stay down there until our starters were ready. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were extremely helpful. Amazing food, fabulous staff. Very much enjoyed the evening & we will be going again!!
Log House Restaurant – AmblesideExcellent place to go for a cooked breakfast if you are self catering or just a late riser at the weekend. think they serve breakfasts till 2pm and you can people watch on a sunny day from the outside dining area. Lots of other food available too which always looks scrummy.
Bowness Kitchen – WindermereThe fact that my wife and me make a 130 mile round trip to eat at this fine restaurant is proof enough of our liking for its exceptional food and atmosphere. We are always made welcome and the attention to our culinary requirements is first class. Please do not let the "corner shop" exterior blind you to the delights that await inside
Alexandros – CarlisleTo enjoy a fine meal cheerfully served in the spacious conservatory overlooking the broad sands of the Leven estuary is a unique experience, especially welcome after walking the one-and-a-half miles along the old canal from Ulverston.
Bay Horse – UlverstonFood really was excellent - fresh and authentic; a quality and varied menu (meaty and vegetarian options - something for everyone) - i heartily advise trying the sticky ribs with boddingtons! Cooked to perfection. As for the vodka/tequila for my Birthday, a big thanks...it capped off a perfect night with great atmosphere. The staff were really great and were happy to nip into the kitchen to raid the cinnamon and orange store - the perfect accompaniment to the wide selection of tequila! This in turn led to many 'artistic' crayoning creations on the tablecloths - a fab idea to keep kids young and old entertained! Amigos - a mexican gem. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
