Gotta love the Black Cock
Black Cock Inn – Broughton-in-FurnessMr husband and I ate at The Kings Arms Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was certainly made a special night. The atmosphere is that of a proper country inn and the staff were all very polite and attentive. We both had a starter and main course which was all delicious. Being vegetarian I sometimes find that pubs don't really care much about their veggie dishes but I was very pleased with the vegetable lasagne I chose. We will definitely eat here next time we are in Keswick. :)
LB’s Pizza House @ The Kings Arms Hotel – KeswickVery good
Finkles – Kendalit was really good
Finkles – KendalA good curry house in modest surroundings. I have eaten here a number of times and have found the food to be great, The chicken Pili Pili is a must try for those who like their curries a bit hotter. The place would be even better if the waiters smiled a bit more, however!
Bengal Spice – WorkingtonOne of Cumbria's best kept secrets. The food here is great and the atmosphere is good. Due to it's location (near all the busy bars and clubs), not one for young kids later on during the weekends I'd say. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Bollywood Special is great!
Shaha – CarlisleFirst class food and good choice of beer
Farmers Arms – Ulverstoni think every one should take a look at it and stay for a meal or two
Finkles – KendalFamous for it's own brewed cider. We had a lovely meal and finished it off with a glass of cider each. My wife and I, coming from Somerset, are cider experts - my wife rates The Old Black Cock Inn cider as a heavenly experience.
Black Cock Inn – Broughton-in-FurnessVery nice, quick service, attentive & friendly staff
Casa Romana – Whitehaven – Whitehavena very nice and modern pub with terrific bar staff to make you feel warm and welcome.
The Thin White Duke – CarlisleVisited the herdwick one Sunday to find they did an all day carvery, four chooses of meat with loads of veg, the lady carving was very generous with the portions of meat and then you helped your self to as many veg and potatoes as you wanted great value for money. will definitely be going back.
Herdwick Inn – PenrithVery comfortable and stylish. Great ambiance and a variety of fresh, inventive food. One of my favourite places in Penrith, well worth a visit.
Cafe Fifteen – PenrithVery nice and quick service, and always busy! Recommend to anyone. Always specials on aside a great tasty menu. Bar staff are great and the weekend waitresses are easy on the eye, two in particular! Just go and experience it, you won't be disappointed!
Yankees – WorkingtonWell modernised pub in wonderful coastal location. Non-smoking bar, good food, including soup in a bun and real ales with cafe bar coffee aroma around the place. New hostel barn for walkers, cyclists and hangovers. Good atmosphere for outdoor types.
Ship Inn The – Broughton-in-FurnessI used to work here in the summer of '85 and loved every minute of it. Raymondo & Virginia were a pleasure to work for!! The head chef Pino was a quality operator who could cook to a high standard. Great menu with plenty of choices of meat & fish, pizzas to die for and traditional pasta in abundance. Bravo!!
Rastellis Pizzeria – WindermereSimply put, one of the most memorable dinners we have had in the Lakes, better than many that profess to be outstanding with their cuisine. Clean, very well presented food, the steamed chocolate & pistachio budino, honeycomb, vanilla ice-cream dessert is a must and all food lovers should give this restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed......Enjoy.
