Ristorante Rossini – UlverstonHad an excellent lunch in this modern bright Bowness cafe. Tip top Chili on a baked potato. Dined on a window table overlooking the busy street, great for a voyeur like me! The place has boutique B&B rooms too. give it a whirl...
Monties – Windermerefabulous food, friendly relaxed service. really good standard and choice. apple crumble best ever tasted
New Inn – ApplebyI’ve been there a few times with my girlfriend and even organised my parent's ruby anniversary there. I don't have a bad thing to say about the place, every time the staff have bent over backwards to do their best and even though I personally haven’t had any delays in service I’ve heard that a couple friends of mine who did have to wait a little (10 mins max on this one occasion) didn't mind because the food definitely made up for it. The people I’ve spoken to all say its a massive improvement on what it used to be and for me, after many times of going to another well known place near McDonald's in Workington and being squashed together on a Saturday night, Oily's the only place I would take a date to eat at. Overall, good service, plenty of parking space, great food & low cost! (Especially on a Sunday --> 3 courses for less that £10!) My one recommendation is make a reservation earlier on in the week (or a week before that) for an evening meal because this is a very popular place!
Oily’s – WorkingtonEXCELLENT - 6 of us had a fabulous meal on Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was excellent and all of our party enjoyed the meal. Nive bar/lounge upstairs to relax in while you peruse the menu. Good cross section of choices for all the 3 courses @ £16-95 per head. Some supplements were applicable for a Fillet steak and cheese and biscuits etc. Very good wine list. Well worth a visit if you are ever in Bowness-On Windermere. Would advise booking because it is not a large restaurant.
Postilion Restaurant – WindermereAtmosphere and food fantastic, lovely meal, lovely evening, heavily recommend!!!!
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWELL RECOMMENDED QUALITY FOOD AT AFFORDABLE PRICES
Crofters – Barrow-in-Furnessoilys workington i have eaten here a few times now and i think the place is not consistent as every time has been different sometimes the meal is excellent and other times it is just average. the place it self is very nice although confusing as you are eating pub grub in restaurant style surroundings the staff and service:service is good most of the waiting staff are pleasant but there is a few unpleasent waiting staff this place will do well if it sorts its consistency and staff 8/10 good grub recommended
Oily’s – WorkingtonThis is my favourite cafe of all time (and I've tried a few!) The cafe is very quaint with a good atmosphere, in a lovely setting by the River Kent. The food is of a consistently high quality, very fresh and wholesome. The staff are always lovely and its very good value for money. I always get a cheese scone (the best)and a salad (fantastic) to takeaway for my lunch the next day.
Waterside Cafe – Kendalour car broke down en route to Scotland, and boy are we glad it did. We were greeted like long lost friends and made to feel so so welcome. My husband had sea bass while i had a sirloin steak. The meal was excellent as was the service and we shall definately make sure we stop on the way back! An excellent well run operation.
Station Hotel Bar and Restaurant – PenrithThis restaurant is a hidden gem you don't know what you've discovered till you get to the top, and it is at the top of a hill, food out of this world and staff so accommodating, without a doubt the best restaurant in Penrith. Bob West Yorkshire

Meadowside Cafe – SedberghThis is the first time I have eaten in a Pizza Express and I was really impressed with the quality and service, I am not sure if they are all the same but this one’s new and is a lovely restaurant and I am surprised that there is not a picture on here to show it off!!!
Pizza Express – Kendali love this local coffee shop and spend hours in there.
Merienda – CockermouthWe stumbled on this place by accident as every other Restaurant was fully booked. It was our first wedding anniversary so we were looking for something special and this place certainly delivered. The staff were excellent and really seemed to know the menu and the food... Well all I can say it's a very long time since I've eaten any thing so good in the UK! Perfectly cooked and presented. Would definitely suggest paying a visit to this place if you want to have an excellent meal in a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. 10/10
