We ate at Baileys last night. The food and service was great. It has a lovely atmosphere.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed at the time. However, we up against a time scale due to our house tour. I would’ve said something at the time. The chap in the shed did say did you enjoy your lunch ladies. We couldn’t say because he was such a kind gentleman. My friend had bruschetta which was very disappointing, tomatoes and parsley on one slice of thin very crusty bread. No oil/balsamic or onions, garlic etc! I then had the specialty salad which I was expecting all the trimmings, walnuts, pomegranate, apple and crab! Selected meats perhaps but no! None of these. For the amount we spent on each meal I was expecting a lot more. It was a huge shame. The gardens and house was beautiful and host were fabulous. Big shame.

Amazing food and service

Fabulous food, great staff and lovely atmosphere! The Sunday lunch was amazing - the best I’ve had in a long time! The Burgers were delicious, we had clean plates all round!

Very relaxed atmosphere, staff were polite and friendly nothing too much trouble. We went for Sunday dinner which was delicious with plenty gravy. Will definitely visit again highly recommend

Excellent food and fantastic service from the team

From the warm welcome through our dining experience, we had the most enjoyable evening. The food was excellent, the wine too. Whenever in Buxton we will be back.

We enjoyed our meal very much. My husband was very brave and tried the kangaroo he said it was absolutely delicious. My fillet steak was also beautiful. We would highly recommend this eatery.

We travelled a great distance to visit the gardens as we have done before. Yet again they did not disappoint and gave us much inspiration. On this occasion we decided to book the Quintessential afternoon tea online to complete our day. The service was prompt and pleasant and we had no complaints about being seated in the Whistler room. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations and contrary to what we were led to believe from the online menu we were faced with sandwiches that were basic and ordinary. No smoked salmon sandwiches, no egg mayonaise sandwiches, no horseradish mayonaise with the beef sandwiches. This was plain fare indeed. The online menu indicated that ingredients were 'subject to availability' but this was taking things too far and could hardly be described as Quinessential! We alerted one of the waitresses who was courteous and sympathetic and having conferred with another member of staff upstairs offered us a small discount on the cost of the meal. Unfortunately, the food on offer spoilt the whole experience.

Not really impressed, didn’t accommodate one of the party allergies with seed oils surely a place like a cafe/restaurant would have lard or dripping to cook with.. He couldn’t have a coffee either as you didn’t posses cream ? You do cream teas/ afternoon teas etc surprised you couldn’t provide the cream Regards

Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic setting. We were a group of 6 and everyone of us enjoyed our meal so much we booked in for the following evening and wasn’t disappointed at all. Thank you

Booked am overdue roast dinner as heard great reports about Bailey’s…we were met by ? who took us to our table with a chilled bottle of water for the table ..menus on table ready and she said she would be back ready to take drinks / food order..nothing was rushed and dinner came beautifully presented and a decent temperature..lovely produce, great selection of veg and we were satisfied with the price of the bill..despite the restaurant being only half full I still feel the service would be the same..it was excellent!

The Gate is my local pub but I would certainly travel to this pub for a drink or a meal in its lovely authentic olde worde interior and large garden with views. The Sunday lunch my son and I had yesterday was superb. The beef was cooked to perfection and very tender and was complimented by creamy, buttery mashed potatoe, crispy toasties, roasted carrots and parsnips and delightful medley of cabbage, brands and peas., and the piece de resistance, tasty beef gravy with which to fill a huge Yorkshire pud - just as I like it with a soft bottom and crispy top. We added cauliflower cheese which was delicious. The portions were generous but not over-facing and we came out of the pub feeling full and happy. The Merlot was a perfect accompaniment to the meal.

My wife and I were Celebrating my birthday on arrival , the staff had gone to great lengths in setting the table decorations, and made us most welcome, the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely and plentiful, we 5would certainly book again Thank you

Absolutely amazing food, atmosphere and service. The staff couldn’t do enough to make our night perfect and the food was out of this world.

Excellent food great service. There were 8 of us and nothing was too much trouble. We weren’t made to feel like we were rushed or that they wanted the table back. Would recommend as every had a great time

Whilst we had a lovely time at Bailey's, we ordered chateaubriand and, unfortunately, it was overcooked. We asked for medium rare and it was close to being well done. It was still tasty and we liked the ambience, the service and the restaurant itself but it was a little disappointing to pay £70 and the steak not to be cooked correctly.
