We were told of this new and wonderful pub that had just opened in Holsworthy, and we should go down and try the carvery. We travelled from Bude, and realised when we got there that the pub was the Old Market Inn. My first thoughts were, I've been here before and did not enjoy it one bit. However I was convinced by my partner to carry on with our plans. We met up with our friends inside the pub and wow what a difference. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We sat on the leather sofas reading the complementary papers until it was time to go through. We walked through to what was a busy yet very well organised restaurant and shown to our table by the courteous and bubbly waitress, and then up to the carvery. With a choice of three meats and endless veg and roast pots, it was hard to make my mind up. After eating what seemed to be a mountain of food we retired back to the bar for coffee and other refreshments. We would like to say a big thank you to the new owners for looking after us so well, and look forward to seeing them very soon. More than likely next Sunday.

My wife and I took 4 friends to ODE on 29th December 2006. We have eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants in London and to find the same quality tucked away in the beautiful village of Shaldon is just perfect!! The scallops I had were devine, as was the local 'melt in the mouth' Axminster beef. My wife's king prawns were delicious, perfectly cooked and subtly flavoured. Followed by poached brill which she praised all night. This was rounded off with a great selection of local Devon and Cornish Cheeses for me and a delicious chocolate mousse for the missus - well and truly stuffed!! The wine list is well balanced and very competitively priced. It must have been as we had 4 bottles of a very good value Chablis and a great priced silky smooth organic Chateauneuf du Pape - at £36 the most expensive on the wine list!! Not including the organic beers for the blokes!! We all had 3 courses plus the canapes and Entree (small taster of soup!!), 5 bottles of wine, 3 beers, port, coffees and it only came to £50 per head - outstanding value for the quality!! Many thanks to Clare and Tim for setting up this little gem. We will definitely be back!!

I stopped off the A30 for lunch, the manor house is beautiful, full of fine art and antiques, the staff were very friendly and professional, the set 3 course lunch was £19 I had a pre-starter spicy tomato soup, then a fantastic pork terrine with celeriac remoulade and walnut salad, a surprise intermediate course hinted to the more dramatic evening menu and was an assiette of tuna, tuna served in three ways; Nicoise, mousse with orange and peppered and seared with creme fraiche- really good! my main was pan fried Pollock with chorizo. I couldn't manage a pud. I took refuge in the lounge in front of a crackling fire to recover.

Excellent unexpected find in a charming village. Imaginative menu well cooked and presented. Peter is a real character and makes you feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

I had an excellent meal here. The best vegetarian meal for miles.

Willand Restaurant – Exeter

We came in for lunch and as they were quiet, we were offered a private dining room at no extra cost. we sat looking over a small garden and fountain with a log fire burning. We felt like celebrities. We were looked after by a manic French lady who was the perfect host. we loved it...it's our new haunt!!

Hotel Endsleigh – Tavistock

As a person who is fed up with all these generic italian restaurants that seem to be cropping up all the time, it was a nice treat when my family and I visit the Positano two weeks ago. This authentic italian restaurant offered a vast menu to chose from and the service was extremely friendly and child friendly. This restaurant is a real gem in plymouth!

we visit this restaurant during the Folk festival week and other times when we are in Sidmouth. The staff are very welcoming and obliging and they make a superb pavlova. They even gave us black sacks to sit on during one damp folk festival.

We had our wedding here in June, the hotel was superb, the service was great, the food lovely and the whole place very relaxed, like a large family house - highly recommended

Yeoldon Country House Hotel – Bideford

On every visit the food is excellent, well thought out. The head-chef captures the essence of pub dining with the flair and sophistication of fine dining. The beer is not half-bad either, although a varied range would be better.

Church House Inn – Kingsbridge

loved it ...a real treat..would come again very soon

Cruwys Arms The – Tiverton

Had planned for a Chinese meal down the road, but decided to try Lorenzo? instead. The Chilli Beef Tacos was nice and went down well with the house red. Spanish Tapas (combo) for two was a bit disappointing, because four out of the 6 tapas servings were from a jar. Will visit again though but skip the Spanish Tapas combo next time.

Lorenzo – Plymouth

This is my local and has had its ups and downs. At present it is having an UP period. The landlord has been in some time now and has improved the decor and general look of the place. He has a good chef and the prices are reasonable. On his site you can see the current menu, chef's specials and make a booking. We use the restaurant regularly, for just a night out and for celebrations.

Port Royal Inn – Exeter
