Cornishcarolin

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely old pub. Our (4) meals were hot, tasty and delicious.

Claycutters Arms – Newton Abbot
Shantimurti

Has to be the worst ever eating out experience. 90 minutes for the food to arrive and then burnt and inedible!! A further 30 mins. to replace it and still not good enough. A complaint to the manager/proprietor resulted in a full blown row where he sought to tell me, a customer, about the etiquette of complaining. Apart from the sea view there is NOTHING to commend this place whatsoever!!

Tucked away in a tranquil valley just a short distance from Woolacombe is an amazing place to eat; Trimstone Manor Hotel. It has a cosy bar and lounge and the restaurant itself looks out over rolling countryside. The menu is interesting and the food very tasty. After a day by the sea, this was a terrific place to relax and enjoy good food and ambiance. We were made most welcome and were not rushed so definitely a place to return to.

The best Indian I have visited so far.Wide selection of dishes from different regions of India(some of them I have never heard of). Each dish tastes different to the other and was full of subtle flavours.Very clean and modern interior.Professional and friendly staff.will visit again.Try it when in Paignton.

Cilantro – Paignton

had heard various things about the food and rooms. Room was fantastic with very comfy bed and very clean. Wish the food was as good! Very disappointing restaurant, and prices on alcohol a bit much. Would advise staying but not eating.

Fishbone Restaurant and Bar – Plymouth

Probably the worst meze it has ever been my misfortune to have served up to me. The main course dishes comprised one chicken wing, one chicken leg, two small kebabs and some Greek salad. When the waiter was asked where the rest was he replied that's it, what more do you expect.

Village Restaurant The – Plymouth

Really friendly pub, have been 3 times this week whilst on holiday. Great to be able to eat in the garden, and loved the Carvery on Sunday. A real treat. Can't wait till next years holiday!!

Globe Inn – Winkleigh
Bigboy

I would not recommend this place at all. I e mailed them for details of prices, menu etc prior to a holiday in the area and there was not even a reply.

We recently visited James Duckett's Restaurant in Barnstaple ('The Old Custom House'). In fact, we had been there last year and were so impressed that we returned this year taking my parents. We all agreed that it was not just delicious food, but an experience. The Lunch time menu offers wonderful dishes at incredible value, and the Dinner menu is hugely tempting, in fact, everything we tasted was divine, and exquisitely presented. James Duckett and his team both in the Kitchen and Front of House provide a welcoming atmosphere and glorious food, it really is not to be missed.

Quite frankly the best curry i've had EVER! Went there for my Dad's birthday and was blown away. Thinking about it makes me want to move back to Plymouth!

Nibana Indian Restaurant – Plymouth

It's ok about 7.5 out of 10 but opened on Sundays.

Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant – Seaton

My wife and I dined here 6th June after reading an American couples very positive revue. The table setting and colour co-ordination in black and white is the first eye catcher. The menu is well balanced and has a good wine selection, the Santa Rita Merlot a particular favorite of mine. The starter and main courses are of ample proportions and the taste, I seldom have my toes curl up with food alone! Congratulations Chefs. The Service is courteous and runs smoothly. My only single drawback was a slightly tired cheesecake biscuit base, if that is the worst I can find, Hey Ho the Ritz it aint but on balance the evening was a huge success. I am slightly embarrassed for the nearby City of Plymouth that the little village of Modbury should have this little gem.

The White Hart Inn in Modbury was a surprise and a delight during our stay in Devon. We stumbled upon it by chance and loved it so much we ended up staying two days. The inn was recently taken over by very gracious hosts, Ruth and John. The rooms are very comfortable and of good value, but the inn really shines in its most excellent food and beverage. We ate there the first night just because we couldn’t be bothered to look elsewhere, and after the most excellent meal I have ever had in England (and one of the best we have had anywhere) we proceeded to eat every meal at the inn with every subsequent meal continuing to impress and delight us. Everything was fresh and regional, from the Devon goats milk cheese to our fresh-caught lemon sole (John is a fisherman … yes, they still do exist), to farm eggs and thick-cut bacon and handmade sausages, to hot out of the oven breads baked on the premises. The flavors were exceptional with fine attention to detail and well-crafted taste sensations. Might I add that the wine and champagnes available were also a pleasant surprise. Ruth has worked in many fine inns throughout England and really knows her wine and spirits. Take her advice on some pairings and you will not be disappointed. What more can I say — we loved it!

I am a vegetarian which is a bit of a problem when eating out. However, although the vegetarian choices for "mains" was limited the mezze's menu is practically all vegetarian. The sizes are generous and after eating two I was about full and had a job getting through my main course. My choice of mezze were absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try some of the others next time we go. My dining partner is not a vegetarian so she went for the meat choices and was equally pleased. The house wine was good value and altogether the whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable and the Spanish waitress was charming and attentive. We highly recommend the Souk.

poor, complete lack of care in preparation of food - poor quality bacon and cheese - over salted french fries to the extreme making them impossible to eat -flat lager shandy on a hot day - served in a dirty glass- wont be going back in a hurry -i know this wont get printed but they should be made aware!

Waterside Bistro – Totnes

Beautiful Dinner :o)

Fox and Hounds Country Hotel – Chulmleigh

An old police station, great menu, smart wine list, this is very refined cuisine, great place for ilfracombe, and we were told the menu changes daily, had great ravioli to start, and a pressed pork belly for main, and a side of truffled cauliflower gratin which is better than a bowl of the lifeless `veg` u get in most places.
