I visited the Barbican Kitchen yesterday evening and was very impressed again. The 2 courses for £10.95 deal was brilliant, the pea and mint soup was delicious, as was the Pork. This is a stylish restaurant. The service was excellent, discreet and leisurely - We would not fault anything!

me and my wife have been holidaying in Devon for years and have often visited the church house inn as it is a wonderfully located pub just a mile from the beach and with a great beer garden to relax after walking the dog. we have always enjoyed our visits to the pub but the last time we visited the food we experienced was the best we had eaten in years. locally sourced fish cooked in creative and internationally inspired ways really excelled our expectations and we cannot wait to return next year!

If you want bad service and an expensive meal, “Route 38” is for you. My Birthday meal fiasco took place on the 22nd of June 2011. Four of us arrived at about 8:00pm and were shown to a table. We then had our order taken in good time for both drinks and meals. The drinks arrived a few minutes later as expected. Three meals arrived 15 minutes later but mine took a further 5 minutes which was bad given that I had only ordered a burger. The meals were of fair quality but expensive for what we had. We continued eating and finished our drinks but it was not possible to get the attention of any of the staff for a refill. They were more interested in turning off the Budweiser sign, adjusting a blind and most annoyingly vacuuming around the area we were seated. After being made to feel very unwelcome we left without the sweet and coffee we were looking forward to. We had to step over the abandoned vacuum cleaner which was left in the middle of the aisle. All we needed to complete the scene was Basil Fawlty. I have lived and worked in the States and the abysmal service at Route 38 is a complete insult to American restaurants and the customers of Route 38 alike.

Very good, the best bit is the carvery and the range of meats are amazing. I also recommend the potatoes. The only problem is the lack of tables and seating.

wow the food is outstanding and with service to match, the set dinner menu is great we had three courses and it was only £19.95 each, there are not may places you can eat good fresh food for this money. if you keep this up we will be back time and time again.

Absolutely recommend the Blue Anchor Brixham! Our annual visit always begins with a nice cold beer after a long drive then at least 3 bookings in the restaurant over the time we're there! Food is fab, beer wonderful and the bar staff very friendly and welcoming! looking forward to going back this year :)

What a disappointment this establishment is. On the occasions I've been, I have rarely come out happy and satisfied. The waiter seems to take no notice of you're needs being met and I found him to be rude. When I asked for the bill in the 'almost empty' restaurant, He asked me to go and pay at the bar... excuse me for asking? The ambiance is dark and dingy with a television blaring out in the background. I have a discount card, which when I showed it to him, He failed to deduct the 20% and argued with me that he had..? Now on to the food. Popodoms were stale as were the tray of sauces.. mango chuckney, watered down.. unpleasant indeed and left. Main meal- Meat based dish ( dhansak) extremely tough and chewy and so I left the meat.. The vegetables tasted off in fact it all tasted off to me. The veg seems to come out of a 'frozen' packet.. Rice- There was little of it and it was over-cooked. Nan bread- keema nan- minced meat tasted off.. Drinks- dirty glass accompanied by dust. By then, I really did not desire a desert. The service in the balti king is sub- standard. I don't see it full of people nor is it a good ambience.. My over all experience is one of total dissapointment and I came away, knowing that when I come to totnes again, I will be most definately not be going there again.. 'The cafe India' at the top of Town however, is most excellent and I recommend a visit.. 10 out of 10 to that establishment, most certainly. I forgot to mention that i had the runs after eating at the balti.. This balti house needs an inspection asap.

We eat here a 5-6 times a year, the service is always excellent- friendly, helpful, they even open the doors for you! The food is consistently excellent, always properly cooked, good portions and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant and take away....worth travelling for (i live 40 miles away).
