The church mouse is a really friendly pub with a warm country feel to it, the staff are warm and helpful, it? lovely to snuggle up next to a real fire with a loved one. Would highly recommend you visit.

The ambience of this new pub is lovely and with all the different side rooms it gives a cozy feel. The food was fresh paninis which were really good for a light bite. This is definitely a great friendly town centre pub and nothing like the other town centre pubs.

Slaters Arms The – Darlington

We dined he on the 3rd November 2006 and had a very enjoyable evening. The meals were freshly prepared and tasted divine (Sirloin Steak and Chicken Veronique). The drinks were reasonably priced and the no smoking atmosphere a pleasure. A bonus was the entertainment provided in the main bar area from 9pm onwards. This is a regular event every Friday night and FREE. (Dave Black entertained us with a number of classics from the 70s and 80s', playing both the guitar and the saxophone). Highly recommended and will definitely become a regular Friday night out for ourselves.

Three Horseshoes Inn The – Durham

We eat here at least once a month and receive fantastic no frills food at a good price. The staff are great....especially Louise who you feel that you have known her all your life. A true family business that looks after their customers. Try it once and you will be back again.

Blue Lagoon – Darlington

I have been going to the Derwent walk 3-4 times a year for 5 years. A really lovely pub with great atmosphere and a great menu - everything fresh, well cooked and presentation is excellent. However over the last couple of years management of the front of the house has gone a bit slack and the very nice but unfocussed serving staff are hard to attract the attention of past the first order - its even hard to pay sometimes! Only other complaint is that the drinks at the bar are on the pricy side, but the wines on the menu are very reasonable. Really good food consistently - shame the service doesn? quite match.

Derwent Walk Inn – Durham

SUE ( HOSPICE GIRLS )

We are a group of girls who worked at the local hospice and have been going out for over 12 years for a meal together. we go out on average every 2 month usually somewhere different every time. In January this year we went to pennicks and what a treat we had we all had something different and everyone enjoyed what they had and they had proper chips. We decided to go back the next time and again we had a treat food is excellent cost is about the same as other top restaurants in Hartlepool. So guess where we are going again this month? If you haven? tried it yet you don? know what you are missing.

Roof Top Restaurant – Hartlepool
Charlaw Inn The

Steve and Christine are excellent hosts, providing effortless hospitality, great food, good beer and exceptional service. They cater for all occasions and budgets, the bar and restaurants are spacious but comfortable, and would provide the perfect venue. Kid friendly too!

Myself and my family have been to the Chester Moor inn on several occasions to celebrate birthdays and for family meals. I recommend it everyone - how good the meals and how well the staff look after you and are really friendly. i have just booked a family meal for next Wednesday.

Have just returned from our first evening visit to The Chequers Inn. And what a night! The place was packed, with that thriving, jostling atmosphere that I thought had gone from village pubs for good. How pleasant to join the merry throng at the bar, to chat to the jolly locals and find staff that are enjoying themselves rushing about, whilst still finding time to talk. In particular we all enjoyed seeing the landlord at the helm, obviously a master at work. How rare it is now to find a good old fashioned landlord who wants to talk to you, is charming and enjoys a laugh (a smile is getting rare nowadays in many establishments!) whilst keeping the busy pub running. We found all of the staff faultless, from the friendly bar staff to the lovely young waitresses. The food was good homecooked fare, which despite the packed restaurant we did not wait for. We have enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant evening. The atmosphere of a location really does change the whole night, creating (as we have found tonight) groups from which the laughter rings out, and everyone exchanges smiles and witticisms as they pass. Well worth recommending.

The Chequers Inn – Darlington
A. Good Eater

Possible the best landlord I have ever encountered; charismatic, welcoming, charming and very good fun. After a great welcome we sat in the lounge where the charming atmosphere and friendly people and staff made is feel like village locals. The food is great, something a bit different than what you would expect from a small village pub. We thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely return and shall be shouting their praises to all of our friends.
