My friend and I had the Afternoon Tea. No sooner had we sat down our food arrived! It came on what looked like a mini set of shelves! it was so cute, a change from the usual 2/3 plate stand! Tea was piping hot! We had cheese savoury and ham sandwiches, this was our preference, we don’t like fancy stuff! The sausage rolls were beautiful, home made and still warm. Yes the scones were miniature (and missing marg/butter) but we had cream and jam. I think it was a slice of chocolate fudge cake we had each and vanilla baked cheesecake. These were proper size slices. If the scones had been any bigger we wouldn’t have had room for the cake!! We came away full and thoroughly enjoyed our treat. We would definitely have this again :-)

My husband and I have enjoyed lots of meals at The Farmers Arms and our latest one was no exception. We brought my lovely mother in law to have dinner with us recently and it was all excellent. We had a lovely table in the restaurant were quickly served with our drinks. The food was delicious and my mother in law chose beer battered cod. She's no fan of potato so she asked for garlic bread as an alternative and that was no problem at all. Our waitress was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. Whether you are just calling at this wonderful pub for drinks or food, you won't be disappointed.

Six of us had a lovely meal on Tuesday night. Great welcome and service from staff and lovely food. A couple of dishes not available but we found other choices. This is our first choice because we always enjoy it, food is very good and reasonably priced.

Four of us dined here last night and we all really enjoyed our food, two chicken tikka hanging kebabs, battered haddock and a halloumi burger, we had a little wait which didn’t bother us but when the food arrived it was hot and nicely cooked. Only two members of staff on the floor but both very friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Thank You

We love this little spa. Always a go to when not wishing to spend a fortune elsewhere. Treatments and food always spot on too.

We enjoyed our first meal in the Castle Restaurant on Saturday afternoon with friends. The meal was lovely, the portion sizes are generous and beautifully presented, the service was excellent. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great food, lovely and cool and a great fixed £10 menu. Always end up taking our sweet home, rice pud with summer fruits and cheese board. 1/2 left for my tea today Quiet and relaxed; staff friendly, just the right amount of contact and not pushy, trying for upgrades etc. always a nice relaxed meal in familiar surroundings. Our go to after being in Durham. A really wide range of starters, mains and sweets. And poor WiFi is a BONUS. People talk, laugh and enjoy each others company. Well well done on all fronts

Went for afternoon tea with 3 of my friends on Sat, early 60th birthday celebration for 2 of us. Tea & coffee was cold, had to ask for hot water….only 2 types of sandwiches, which were a little dry….had to ask for butter for our miniature scones….chocolate cake was dry & not sure what the other cake was as we weren’t told. We were never approached to ask if we wanted another drink. Staff seemed very unhappy & stressed!! Not the best.
